For information about family events and youth activities taking place in our community, visit www.calvertnet.k12.md.us. Please note that these events and activities are not sponsored by the Calvert County Board of Education or Calvert County Public Departmental Information Schools. We provide equal opportunities to outside agencies to distribute materials that offer opportunities to students and/or their parents, but that permission should not be considered a recommendation or endorsement by the school district.
Online Payments: Parents can now make online payments for CMS activities (i.e. athletic fees, financial obligations, etc.). Please refer to the links below for instructions:
Setting up an account: Parent Account Setup

Code of Student Conduct: The Code of Student Conduct handbook is posted on the Calvert County Public Schools website. Hard copies are available upon request. All students (grades Kindergarten to 12th) and their parents/guardians should review this document to become familiar with the rules and regulations that govern student behavior. School officials spend time during the first two weeks of school reviewing the information with students and highlighting major changes.
Students and their parents/guardians are responsible for knowing and understanding the information, including policies, procedures, and consequences for violating the Code of Conduct. The school will send home a Statement of Understanding with each student, to be signed by both the student and the parent/guardian and returned to the school.
Please refer to the Electronic and Communication Devices section of the Code of Conduct for additional information regarding rules and regulations for cell phones, smartwatches, and other electronic or communication devices.

UPDATES:
Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! We hope that you had an enjoyable and restful summer and are excited to hear about all your adventures when school begins on Tuesday, August 27th!
- 6th Grade, and New 7th and 8th Grade, Student Orientation will be held on Monday, August 26th. Orientation promptly begins at 8:00 a.m. Please see the attached document regarding transportation.
- Student schedules and bus information will be available to view in Home Access Center (HAC) as of August 19th. Since schedules are available electronically, we will not be mailing them home to students. If you have difficulty accessing the schedule in HAC, please contact the school at 443-550-8972. Please note that schedules could change up until the first day of school and that requests for teachers will not be granted
- Home Access Center (HAC) is the online application that allows families to view grades and monitor progress throughout the school year. Middle and high schools do not print paper interims and report cards. As a reminder, HAC account credentials follow users throughout their child’s career with CCPS—you will use the same login and password information until your child graduates. New letters will not be provided each year. If you haven’t yet customized your HAC password, please do so by logging into your HAC account, hovering over your name in the top right corner, and selecting My Account. On this page, you can change your password and add/edit your challenge questions as needed. You can also contact the guidance department if you need help with your log in credentials for HAC.
- Each guardian needs to login to their HAC account and update their contact information. Remember, each guardian has his/her own account, and each account should be updated. To update your contact information, please login to HAC, then click on Registration. Scroll down to Contacts and click Edit on the right. At the top, guardians may see information for their student. Underneath your student’s information, you will see your name listed under Guardian. It is critical that a valid email address and updated phone numbers are attached to your account in the Guardian section. Guardians can access the School Messenger Info Center at https://go.schoolmessenger.com/#/home. In the School Messenger Info Center, you cannot change contact numbers or email addresses. However, you can adjust preferences for how general school or CCPS messages are delivered. This is not related to the emails sent directly by teachers.
- We know you and your child are excited about being prepared and beating the rush of getting your school supplies. However, we recommend that you wait until your child meets with all their teachers to determine what supplies are needed. Typical supplies include items such as pencils, pens, notebooks, folders, paper, etc.
- Please see the attached letter below from Food Services.
- Sports physicals must be completed and turned into Mr. McDowell, Athletic Director, prior to a child’s participation in a sport. Your child will not be able to participate in a clinic until all the required paperwork and fees are submitted. (All of the required forms can be found on our website.) Clinics for soccer and volleyball will begin on September 3rd. We would like the physicals and required paperwork for fall sports to be turned in by then but the last possible due date that they will be accepted will be September 6th. Feel free to drop off your child’s physical, insurance waiver, consent to participate form, and clinic fee prior to the first day of school.
- Fall pictures will be taken on Wednesday, September 18th. Make-ups will be taken on Wednesday, November 6th.
- Medications occasionally must be administered to students by our school nurse, Mr. Cash. According to Maryland state guidelines, any medication -- including over-the-counter medication -- must have a “School Administration Authorization Form” on file in the health room before they can be administered. The form can be found on the CCPS website. Your child’s medication must be in the original container and have the child’s name on the bottle. Medications must be brought to school by a parent or guardian.
- Back to School Night will occur on September 11th from 6:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m. The Back-to-School Night provides an excellent opportunity for parents to meet their child’s teachers in a more formal setting. During this time, parents will visit classrooms and learn information regarding curriculum, procedures, policies, and upcoming events. If you feel the need to meet with your child’s teachers, please schedule a conference through our guidance department.
- The instructional day at our school starts at 8:00 a.m. and concludes at 3:00 p.m. The building opens for car riders at 7:40 a.m. Students arriving to their first period past 8:00 a.m. will be marked tardy and are required to sign in at the main office. Car riders in the afternoon are released from classes following the bus dismissal. We ask that you avoid signing out your child during the final 10 minutes of the school day and remember to bring your ID.
- Calvert County Public Schools uses Raptor for visitor and volunteer sign in and sign out. All volunteers and chaperones will need to complete an Online Volunteer Application before they may begin service as a volunteer in any school. Applications must be submitted after the prospective volunteer has completed all parts of the application process. Chaperones for school-sponsored field trips and events must have an approved volunteer application on file at least two weeks prior to the scheduled trip. Raptor volunteer application must be completed annually and the 2024-2025 application is now ready at https://www.calvertnet.k12.md.us/departments/human-resources/become-a-volunteer.
- Some students may qualify for free or reduced-price meals. Eligibility is typically determined by household size and income. Parents need only submit one application per household if they believe their children qualify for free or reduced-price meals. Parents can find the print and online application at School Meal Information - Calvert County Public School District (calvertnet.k12.md.us).

History of Calvert Middle School
The new Calvert Middle School opened its doors August 2010 for its first school year. The school was built in a new location geographically north of Calvert High School with a view of the high school athletic fields from some windows. The location by car is 655 Chesapeake Boulevard, which is a newly extended road between the shopping center containing Giant. The new school is larger than the original containing 59 instructional rooms which includes Academic, Related Arts, computer labs, and small group instructional classrooms. Other areas include a media center, gymnasium, and cafeteria/stage.
The original Calvert Middle School was the oldest school building in Calvert County. It was originally built in 1947 and opened as a high school in 1949. It has been a middle school since 1973, incorporating grades six, seven, and eight. It was located in the heart of Calvert County's governmental seat in Prince Frederick, Maryland, at the intersection of State Route 4 and Dares Beach Road. It was demolished around 2010 but the playing fields continue to be used by the public.
