MCPS School Calendar 24-25

Eastern’s Book Fair Is Coming 25 November - 6 December! Read our letter for more details. We hope you stop by during parent-teacher conferences on M. 11/25 and consider gifting a book to a teacher’s classroom library or donating to Share the Fair so students who can’t afford to shop can participate in the fair too!

Teachers will be completing Quarter 2 interims on Friday, December 13th. Please look for students to bring home interim reports on Friday, December 20th. Marking period 2 will end on Tuesday, January 28th.

If your student has lost a water bottle, please send them to the cafeteria to pick it up. These are nice (and EXPENSIVE) bottles. Stop by to pick them up before they are sent away on Tuesday afternoon.

Congratulations to the winners of Ms. Gonzalez and Eastern's Minority Scholars First Annual Calaveritas Literarias Contest!

EagleNation students interviewed Jim Shalleck who is Vice Chairman of the Maryland State Board of Elections and was appointed to the Board by Gov. Moore.

Our Eagles were present at the recent Montgomery Council Youth Townhall and they asked, "How soon is Eastern Middle School going to be updated?" Shout out to Farrah and Nicole for representing the EagleNation since I know we all want answers to this question.

Parents of students who ride the Public Ride On busses, please talk to your students about playing on the narrow sidewalk/ bus stop waiting area on University Blvd.

Despite staff and cross walk warnings, students continue to playfully push each other in the street which could have DANGEROUS results. Please talk to your children about listening to the adults who are redirecting them and being safe while waiting on the bus.

Interested in helping your student explore possible career paths? The MoCo Career Advising Program is here to help at Eastern. Our 8th grade lunch bunch recently met a scientist and created lava lamps! Take a look at more information here.

Our PTSA hosted an informative meeting last week and we had a robust conversation about using cell phone lockers at the beginning of the day to protect our students' well-being and allow them to enjoy a distracted free school day.
