HISTORY MAKING WALK-A-THON! THANK YOU EMERSON FAMILY!
Emerson had their Walk-a-thon on Friday October 11th. It was a beautiful day outside and the students enjoyed walking, running and dancing around the track! We had a goal of $25,000. We made Emerson history by raising $31,458! The top 5 students raised $1,000 or more each! There were 80 “superstars” who raised $200 or more and won a spot to our Dave & Busters party planned for November 6th. The Two top raising classes were Mr. McCoy and Mrs. Copacia. Their classes will receive cider and donuts! The whole school will get a glow party at lunch and a PJ & popcorn day soon! We want to send a BIG thank you to everyone who registered their kids, donated their money and donated their time to make this the best fundraiser possible! We truly appreciate everyone! Also, a big thank you to all our corporate sponsors! We are getting a sign made which will be hung up outside the school all year!

NOTE TIME CHANGE! HALLOWEEN PARADE OCTOBER 31ST @ 10:25AM
Dear Emerson Parents,
Halloween is quickly approaching! Children are shopping for costumes, planning their candy routes, and anticipating exciting activities. At Emerson we recognize this excitement in our students and we want to ensure Halloween is a fun-filled, positive experience for all of our students.
On Thursday, October 31st, students will be celebrating Halloween. This is an EARLY RELEASE DAY and students are dismissed at 1:30 P.M. Our school-wide parade will begin at 10:25 A.M. and we will parade through the neighborhood. Parents are welcome to stand around the parade route. We will be walking down Admiral (west) and making the loop around to come back to the school.
All students must come to school in regular school clothes on October 31st. Students can wear light Halloween makeup to school that day (eyeshadow, painted freckles, rosy cheeks, etc.). All makeup and hair products must stay home from school that day. Students will be able to change into their costumes prior to the parade.
Make sure to adhere to the following rules:
1. Masks are not to be worn in school or during the parade.
2. HEAVY makeup is not to be worn (light makeup only-eyeshadow, painted freckles, rosy cheeks, etc.)
3. Glitter and fake blood are not to be worn or brought to school.
4. Fake or real weapons are not to be brought to school, i.e., swords, guns, knives, daggers, and the like.
5. Inappropriate costumes are not to be worn to school. Please choose costumes that are positive and/or represent a good role model for our students.
6. No roller blades, roller blade shoes, skateboards or scooters.
7. No bare midriffs.
8. Please use common sense and good judgement when sending your child to school on October 31st.
Classroom teachers will be organizing their classroom or grade level activities. Please make sure to follow all guidelines and parameters as set by the classroom teacher. Some of our classrooms are NUT-FREE and the teachers will inform you of all pertinent information. If a classroom party has not begun when you arrive, please wait patiently. This is needed to allow for a smooth class transition with minimal disruptions.
Remember: a couple of pieces of candy in your child’s lunch are plenty during the week. Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Mr. Argiri

RED RIBBON MONTH- WEAR RED EVERY MONDAY!
This year's theme is “Life is a Movie, Film Drug Free.” Red Ribbon Month is a month during which people, schools, and communities unite and take a visible stand against drugs. During HEART class students will focus on healthy habits and choices. Students will pledge to live a drug-free life. Red Ribbon Awareness Bracelets will be worn by all staff and students throughout the month to show that we pledge to make good choices. Bracelets have arrived and will be passed out to students.
