What's Happening This Week:
Welcome to another exciting week! π We hope you all had a fantastic weekend and are ready for some fun learning adventures ahead. Letβs dive into whatβs coming up next!
Phonics: This week, we will focus on the long "a" sound when written with a silent "e" at the end. Remember, when a single vowel is followed by a consonant and then a silent "e," it makes the vowel "say its name." π
Reading: We are kicking off a new unit titled "Technology at Work." Our focus will be on summarizing, comparing two books, and understanding text features. When reading with your child at home, encourage them to look at the cover, take a picture walk, and think of questions about the story. After reading, ask them to retell the characters, setting, problem, solution, and the sequence of events. This will help strengthen their comprehension skills!
Math: We have successfully completed Unit 3 and are excited to begin Unit 4, where we will explore subtracting on a number line. Get ready for some number fun!

Thanksgiving Break: Mark your calendars! There will be no school from November 25th-29th. Enjoy this special time with your family and friends.
i-Ready Assessment: Starting December 3rd, students will take their mid-year diagnostic in math to assess their growth. On December 10th, we will begin our mid-year diagnostic in ELA. Please ensure your child has headphones, is well-rested, and has a healthy breakfast. We'll conduct the tests in short 15-minute increments throughout the weeks.
Things to remember
Encourage your child to practice their spelling words at home.
Make sure they are prepared for the i-Ready assessments by getting plenty of rest and a good breakfast.
