A Note From Mrs. Bowden...
I hope that you are enjoying this break. Spending time at the State Fair of Texas, traveling or relaxing at home. When we return, the first nine weeks will almost be over. The 1st 9 weeks ends on Friday, October 13th and grades will be posted on October 19th. It has been great being in classrooms and to see instruction occurring in the classroom. The student work products that I am seeing are indicative of students hard work and their commitment to excellence.
Thank you for being a part of LPS!

Dress Code
Dress Code is enforced daily. There has been an increase number of students that are not in dress code. Please review the Parent - Student Handbook or the below document. We expect students to adhere to the uniform guidelines and to arrive at school in the appropriate uniform daily.
Helper Helper Reminders
Helper Helper Reminders/Updates
- Today is the last day for students to submit their summer service hours. Although summer community service is not required of LPS students, if your student provided community service between 6/1/23 and 8/13/23, then they may enter that into Helper Helper to use those hours to count towards their required amount for the year!
- Up to half of the required hours each semester may be fulfilled via charitable giving (donation) when in connection with LPS-coordinated drives/opportunities.
- Helper Helper commitments are to be filled out accurately. This includes entering true times and dates (no batching of service hours) as well as students entering a description of their service in the “message to coordinator” field.
Dyslexia Awareness Month!
It’s Dyslexia Awareness Month! At LPS, we want to recognize the strengths and brilliance that a student with dyslexia brings to our school community! Take a moment to check out these awesome resources to learn more about dyslexia.
NHS Fundraiser
You can support your NHS by paying a $1.00 for a free dress day. LPS Dress Code guidelines will be followed for Free Dress Day. A reminder that leggings, torn or frayed jeans, and sweats are not included in free dress.
Veteran's Day
Dear Veterans and Families,
We are delighted to announce that Leadership Prep School will be hosting its annual Veteran's Day Celebration on Thursday, November 9, 2023, during our 7th and 8th MODS, which will take place from 2:26 PM to 4:30 PM in the LPS Gymnasium. This event promises to be a remarkable occasion filled with art, theatre, and musical performances, showcasing the exceptional talents of our students in honor of our veterans.
We are honored to extend our warm invitation to the local Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) chapter in Frisco, as well as a distinguished Armed Services Color Guard, who will hopefully be joining us for this special occasion. Furthermore, we are pleased to announce that our guest speaker for the event will be Mr. John Keating, the Mayor Pro Tem of Frisco.
We earnestly hope that you can join us for this significant event. If you, or a member of your family, have served in the United States Armed Services, we cordially invite you to attend and be recognized for your invaluable service and dedication to our nation. This celebration is open to all Veterans and their families, and we wholeheartedly encourage your participation.
Veterans Day holds profound significance for all of us, as it provides an opportunity to express our gratitude and appreciation for the sacrifices made by our servicemen and women. Your presence at this event would greatly enhance the spirit of this occasion.
We look forward to celebrating Veteran's Day with you on November 9, 2023, as we come together to honor and pay tribute to our nation's heroes.
Sincerely,
Dr. Michael Stone

Safety & Security Update
September 29, 2023
Dear Parent or Guardian:
Texas law now requires school districts to distribute information to parents and guardians about the safe storage of firearms. The attached information will help you learn about options for, as well as how to talk to your child and others about, the safe storage of firearms.
In 2021, 4,613 Texans experienced gun-related deaths. The Texas Department of State Health Services (SHS) reports that 55% of Texas firearms deaths in 2020 were suicides and that 59% of all suicides in Texas were by firearms. Suicide attempts involving firearms have a 90% fatality rate. Restricting access to guns is critical in reducing acts of violence, whether as self-harm or towards others. Acts of mass violence and interpersonal violence often end in suicide.
It is unlawful to store, transport, or abandon an unsecured firearm in a place where children are likely to be and can obtain access to the firearm. Under Texas Penal Code 46.13, a person commits the offense of making a firearm accessible to a child if the child gains access to a readily dischargeable firearm, and the person with criminal negligence:
· Failed to secure the firearm; or
· Left the firearm in a place to which the person knew or should have known the child would gain access
The penalty for allowing a child access to a firearm can range from a Class C misdemeanor (punishable by a $500 fine) to a Class A misdemeanor (punishable by a $4000 fine, a year in jail, or a combination of the two).
Texas exempts the purchase of firearm safety equipment from Texas Sales and Use Tax.
Remember, a gun should be stored unloaded in a safe or locked container, with ammunition stored elsewhere. You can learn more and find additional resources from the Texas Department of Public Safety at https://safegunstoragetexas.com.
Safe gun storage is critical to preventing suicide, unintentional shootings, and other tragedies.
Sincerely,
Brian Allen
Safety and Security Coordinator
