Are you unsure how to talk to your child about food and body image?
Thursday, August 29th 2:00 PM ET | 11:00 AM PT Youth and teens undergo many changes, physically, emotionally, and socially. Their bodies are changing, and they are left comparing themselves to others, feeling societal pressures, often through the lens of perfection on social media. Join Mental Health America and Arizona State University for a session specifically for parents and caregivers. During this free, 60-minute session you will: · Hear from parents, youth, providers, and researchers on how to approach the topics of eating and body image with children and young adults. · Learn how to discuss health, eating, nutrition, and our bodies in ways that support healthy habits and prevent eating disorders. · Discuss how comparison, social media, and societal pressures impact body image and youth mental health. · Provide strategies to parents and caregivers on addressing these sensitive topics to best support their children and not perpetuate factors that can lead to an eating disorder and/or body dysmorphia.
Meet the Speakers
- Serena Nangia, senior marketing & communications manager at Project Heal
- Aimee Resnick, social policy student at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois

Important and Repeat News
Tardy to School
Administration will have yellow and red flags on Monday. If you see a yellow flag, your child has 60 seconds to get into the building. Once you see the red flag the front office door will be locked and and your child will need to buzz into the office. They will receive a tardy note from the front desk and then proceed to class.
- "Playground" doors will continue to open at 7:15 a.m.
- At 7:40 a.m. administration will have students enter through the front office, as usual.
- At 7:44 a.m. yellow flag will be raised.
- 7:45 a.m front door will lock and red flag will raise.
Your child MUST be in the building by 7:45 a.m. to not be considered tardy. Getting out of the car at 7:45 a.m. does not count!
Administration will provide extra time if deemed necessary for heavy traffic or rain
Tardy to Class?
5th-8th Grade
If a student is 1-4 minutes late they will be considered tardy and it will be documented on a school-based data platform. When a student receives their third tardy it will result in a after-school detention. Your child could make it in the building by 7:45am and still be late to class! Please get to school early enough that you are providing your child travel time in the hallways!
