Welcome back to the 24-25 school year! This year, our theme is, "Adventure Awaits." We are looking forward to exploring this theme as we have new experiences in our new space. We are enjoying our new location, and our staff is ready for an exciting school year. We are welcoming new families to the district, and we look forward to getting to know all of you. We have had a busy opening of school. Please enjoy the back to school information provided in this newsletter to get you started on a great year.

Students and staff toured the building and enjoyed ice cream treats as they reconnected with friends and learned the layout of their new school.

Grade 8 will be going to TreeTrails Adventures on Thursday, September 19 or Friday, September 20.

Here are some important reminders:

-Students need to pack a lunch for this trip.

-Students should dress for active outdoor experience in clothing that won’t hang loose or get tangled in cables or ropes.-Gloves will be provided for all climbers.

-Students should wear athletic shoes that fully enclose the toe and heel to protect their feet. Sandals, sports sandals, flip-flops, high heel shoes, or Crocs are not permitted.

-If your child has not sent in payment for the trip, please do so as soon as possible.

Lower Moreland Township School District has partnered with FirstView which is an app for parents that allows for direct access to the status of your child’s bus. FirstView GPS tracks the bus on a map and allows you to set up a customizable geo-fence around your pick-up/drop-off location, so you can be alerted when the bus is close. You can customize your notifications on the app.

This is a free app for parents that can be downloaded from Google Play or the Apple App Store. Here are the instructions for getting started with the app: FirstView Bus App. The instruction sheet has the district code and a list of the bus routes that are needed to register. Using this app is optional. The district will continue to send Connect Ed notifications about the status of bus changes or significant delays.

Fall sports are beginning at Lower Moreland Middle School. The official start dates for sports for grades 7 and 8 are as follows:

Girls Soccer: Starts 9-16 3:15-4:45 Coach Crouch

Boys Soccer: Starts 9-23 3:15-4:45 Coach Lean

Field Hockey: Starts 9-11 3:15-4:45 Coach Reese

Cross Country: Starts 9-9 3:15-4:45 Coach Esposito

Families are required to register on FamilyID. This will automatically sign your student up for the sport of their choice. Signs ups will not take place during lunches. Families/students must sign up online using FamilyID.

Required FamilyID PIAA Paperwork:

• PIAA Physical Sections 5 and 6 must be completed by a parent and doctor, stamped, and dated after June 1st, 2023. This is required to attend practices/tryouts.

• Submitted in the following way:

• Uploaded to Family ID (FamilyID)

• All completed PIAA paperwork must be uploaded to your FamilyID profile

LionVoice auditions will run from Tuesday, September 10th through Monday, September 16th. All information for auditions can be found in your child's Chorus Canvas under "Modules."

Parents/guardians need to submit a Health History Update form. This form can be printed using a paper copy which is available on our virtual backpack: Health History Update.

If you have not paid your annual Technology Fee, please pay this as soon as possible. This fee can be paid online through your Myschoolbucks account. We can also take cash or checks made out to Lower Moreland Township School District. Click HERE for information about this fee.

If you child needs a Chromebook charger, please send in $25.00 to the Tech Center to purchase one. You need to purchase this through the school and not through an outside vendor. Chromebooks need to come to school charged every day. Thank you!

Our teachers are using Canvas, which is our learning management system. Parents and guardians can be added as observers to your child's account.

An observer can view and read announcements, view the calendar, and view assignment due dates. If you want to read more about the observer role, click HERE. There are instructions for how to become an observer on your child's account. Parents/guardians can be paired with more than one account if you have multiple students.
