Weekly Update
Weekly Update for the Week of September 30, 2024
Top 5 things to know for the week ahead
1. Algebra 1 and ELA 10 MCAP
Students can sign up with their HOME SCHOOL counselors if they want to take or retake either the Algebra 1 or ELA10 MCAP. Students should sign up by November 8, so that they can take the MCAPs in Dec/Jan.
2. Student and Family Guide FOCUS
This week's focus revisits our DOs and DON'TS.
Online Do’s and Don’ts
DO’s
• DO show up to your synchronous Google Meets
• DO log in to Schoology every day to check your grades and assignments.
• DO reach out to your teachers whenever you get stuck
• DO focus on your work (try your best not to have too many tabs open or other distractions around you while working)
DON’Ts
• DON’T forget to log into Schoology every day
• DON’T forget when your Google Meets are
• DON’T skip assignments or videos
• DON’T be afraid to ask questions
• DON’T forget to charge your device every night.
For reference, here's our Student and Family Guide.
3. Picture Day (LHS UPDATE)
LHS: Students who attend the Virtual Academy but whose home school is LHS can come to LHS at any time during the school day (8:00-2:45) on October 7 or 8 to have school portraits taken. Please advise the front office staff that you are a student at the Virtual Academy here to take your school portrait. Information to order is included in the picture.
4. Be Present
Close those extra tabs and give your full attention during the lesson. There’s nothing worse than seeing students obviously multitasking on the other side of the screen. Be present, engaged, and show you're really listening—it’ll help you understand your material and assignments.
5. Varsity Tutors
Have you marked your calendar yet?

October 16, 2024 we will have a parent and student night. A meeting link will be included in the S'more for that week. The information session will be from 7 pm - 7:30 pm.
