Liberty Library

This past month in the Liberty Library, we hosted English 9 Honors discussions and English 10 Honors classes for book selection. Dual enrolled composition students selected non-fiction books for their expert project and health classes rounded out the month by selecting biographies.

Addison, Asher, Olivia, Olive, Niko, and Rylee are Left on Read! That's the team name for Liberty's first entry into the Iowa High School Book Battle contest. They are reading the same list of books (pictured below) as high school students across the state of Iowa in preparation for a contest that begins in March. Good luck to our team!

Thanks to Mrs. Cranston and the Liberty Student Council for the donations to the Liberty Library Makerspace. Our students definitely use and appreciate items we have available.

Recently, English 10 Honors students used the Makerspace to create artifacts to correlate with the themes of The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan.

Thanks to the Liberty Fund for helping us bring author Tatiana Schlote-Bonne to Liberty for a Q & A session on Monday, February 17. Read her latest book, Such Lovely Skin, a YA horror story, available for check out in the library. Find out more about the author and sign up here.

Each week on Wednesday during Liberty Time we have Makerspace events with the North Liberty Library staff. In January, Ms. Carlson taught students how to use the vinyl cutting machines. In February we will be making items with needlefelting.
