Welcome Back PHS!
2024/2025 School Year
A message from the Principal:
Dear Commodore Family:
As the new principal of Perry High School, it is my pleasure to welcome everyone to the 2024-25 school year! I know I speak for the entire PHS staff in saying we are excited that in a few short weeks, our classrooms will once again be full of positive energy.
This is my fifteenth year in education and during that time, the needs of middle/high school students have changed significantly. Know upfront that I will challenge your student(s) everyday to be the best version of themselves. I want them to know their value and how important they are to the Perry community. When students reach graduation, they will have a clear vision and the necessary resources for a successful future.
Our incredible custodial staff has the building in top-notch condition and our educators are prepared to offer each student a tremendous support system. I can say with confidence that PHS is ready to meet the needs of our students and community. Learning is a lifelong process and building relationships with each of you will be vital in finding success on this journey. I encourage you all to become involved in every way possible.
- Registration: I would like to remind all parents/guardians to take this opportunity to complete the online registration for new and returning students. If you have not received the link from Final Forms, please use this link. Completing this process prior to the start of school will ensure your student is prepared to start on day one. All forms must be complete prior to students receiving their schedule.
- Schedule Pickup: All students are invited to pick up their schedule on August 20-21. The building will be open from 8:30 a.m. though 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. through 3:00 p.m. on each of these dates. If needed, laptops and additional registration support can be found in the HS office during schedule pickup.
- Night Before School Event: We will hold an open house for students on August 25 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. This will be a great opportunity to meet with me individually and students will also have the opportunity to tour the building, so please encourage them to bring their schedules.
- School Supplies: With the exception of backpacks, all necessary school supplies will be provided to students (grades 7-12) on the first day of school.
- First Day of School: On August 26, our doors will open at 7:30 a.m. Please review page two of the student handbook for clarification on the arrival process (A graphic can also be found below). The tardy bell will ring at 7:50 a.m. and any student who arrives after must report to the High School office. The student handbook can be found on the district website.
- Grading Policy: Please check out this link to become more familiar with grading and homework policy of Perry Local Schools.
- Bussing Information: Nick Trent is our transportation coordinator. Please contact him for bussing needs: 567-940-1429.
Good luck to everyone participating in fall sports! I am truly impressed by the hard work and dedication that our student athletes have demonstrated throughout the offseason. Let's show them our support by packing the stands at each event. As a former Varsity football coach, I am especially excited to watch the Commodores kick off their season at home on Aug. 23 against Dixie.
Once again, I am thankful for the opportunity to be a part of this district and the Perry community. Together, we will achieve tremendous growth!
Sincerely,
Tyler Turner, Principal
