From the Desk of Ms.Griffitts
October 4, 2024
Dear Lowell Families,
Fall is in the air, and we are gearing up for parent teacher conferences. We are also very excited about the upcoming FUN Run today!!
Picture Day
October 9th is picture day! Ordering envelopes have been set home, but if you'd like to order online, please go to dorianstudio.com and search for Lowell. Retakes will be on November 14th.
PT Conferences
Please watch for an email from your child's teacher about conference scheduling on October 16 and October 17. Each teacher will be sending emails home later today. These conferences are a great opportunity to collaborate with teachers about your child's strengths and needs. We look forward to seeing you during these days.
On Thursday, October 31, we will have our Fall Fun Day! Students are allowed to wear a costume to school over their normal school clothes and participate in our school wide parade on the walking path to start the day. Costumes must be school appropriate, not violent, and masks/face paint are not allowed. Please see the guidelines linked above. Classroom parties will be scheduled right after the parade or during a separate time during the day. Please look for information from your child's teacher about the time of the classroom celebration.
Thank you!
Thank you to the PTSA for their generous donations to staff and teacher classroom Boise Schools Foundation accounts. We are grateful for the support of our Lowell parent community!
Thank you for your support. As always, please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

Dressing for the Weather
In typical Idaho form, the weather will be all over the place this fall. Please refer to this awesome guide about layering for the weather.
In addition, please write your child's name in their coats, on water bottles, etc. It makes it so much easier to get the items back to the kids.
Attendance Focus
If your child is not going to be at school, please email either mayra.crabb@boiseschools.org or carly.gates@boiseschools.org or call 208-854-5480 and leave a message. A child's absence is marked as "unexcused" until we hear from the parents.

School Nurse News
Dear Lowell Families! I am so excited to announce the hiring of our new Health Tech, Rose Sibbernsen! Rose will be starting in the Health Office on October 3rd and will be routinely covering the Lowell Health Office on Thursdays and Fridays. She is going to be an excellent addition to the Lowell Team. Please welcome her and be patient with her as she builds the plane while she learns to fly it
Please consider Lowell when you are cleaning out your kid’s clothing this season. The Health Office could use the following clothing items:
· Girls underwear
· Girl pants size 4-6
· Size 8-10 pants
· Size 12-14 pants
· Long sleeve shirts
The Health Office provides replacement clothing to students on a regular basis for a variety of reasons. This allows us to get kids back to class quickly and prevents the need to call parents/guardians for clothing needs. We are so appreciative of our community’s generosity.
And remember, it is Flu Season! Flu shots are now available at all clinics and pharmacies, usually at no cost. Please consider the flu shot as a way to protect your child and our community.

Counselor's Corner
Suicide Prevention Month Boise Schools counselors Sarah Campbell (Boise High) and Angel Robison (Hillside Junior High) have given us tips for better mental health, how to talk to your teen or tween about sensitive topics, and warning signs to look for in your child that might be indicators that you should reach out for additional support. Student health and well-being are top priorities at Boise Schools. You matter. We care. And together, we can all help prevent suicide.
Sincerely,
