OLVCS Updates

We are sending this early, as there are many items in the Updates that pertain to the next few days. Including a Pop Up sale for pants and fleeces. (details below)

As a reminder tomorrow is Dollar Dress Down Day in support of the hurricane victims. All funds received will be sent to the Diocese and then given to Catholic Charities.

As a second reminder, we have off on Friday, the teachers have a Diocesan Inservice.

The forms for picture day will come home today. Next Wednesday October 30th is Picture Day.

In support of the Hurricane victims and in conjunction with all diocesan schools; we will have a Dollar (and maybe more) Dress Down Day on October 24th. All proceeds will be sent to the diocese then forwarded to Catholic Charities for hurricane relief.

• Families are welcome to join us for trick-or-treating, fall snacks, and a trip to the pumpkin patch.
• If you are interested in participating in the Trunk-or-Treat by handing out candy from your car or if you would just like to attend, please sign up your family below.

The Crusaders hit the field last week in the 8th Grade Recognition Game against Belleville. The Crusaders secured a win with a tremendous team effort. The 8th graders showed great leadership during the game and season. Congratulations Crosby Bowen, Isla Herbick, Felicity Jacob, Olivia Manno, Aryana McCleary, and Caroline Siuta on a great season!

In recent days, our brothers and sisters in the southeastern part of the United States have endured devastation from Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton. We here in the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown stand in solidarity with those individuals and families. I invite the local faithful to join me in praying for them and asking the Lord to give them strength and healing in the challenging days ahead. In a special way, we also remember those who have lost their lives and those who mourn them.

As we see the suffering of the storm victims on the news, I think I speak for everyone in expressing a great desire to help in some way. Therefore, I am asking all parishes in the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown to take a special collection to benefit hurricane victims on the weekends of October 12-13, October 19-20, and October 26-27. All contributions to this special collection would be tax deductible. Parishes should forward the proceeds to the diocese, and I will see that those monies are forwarded to agencies such as Catholic Charities USA, which will ensure that the funds are used to help the recovery efforts. At this time, there is no need for items such as food, clothing, or toiletries to be sent to the southern states.

In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus reminds us that what we do for the least among us, we do for Him. In that spirit, I ask that local parishioners please be generous in the upcoming special collections, and I encourage everyone to keep all those affected by the hurricanes in their thoughts and prayers. May the Lord bless them and those on the front lines who are working hard to provide aid and comfort.

The party will run from 6:00pm-8:00pm in the OLVCS school gym. Parish families and members of all ages are welcome. Parish children should come dressed up as their favorite saint!

Pumpkin Carving Judging: Religious Pumpkin Art only please (no jack-o-lanterns) will be judged by age group. Those ages 5-18 are welcome to participate.
