Principal's Notes
Spring is finally here and we have a lot of amazing things going on here at CES!! We have Finding our Stride, New Hampshire Dance Institute, VINS, Title I Family Nights, PTA's Spring Event, Jump Rope for Heart, field trips and more. We also have everyone's favorite...testing.
NH SAS Testing
The New Hampshire Statewide Assessments (NH SAS) are administered for English language arts/writing (ELA), math, and science. These assessments are aligned to the New Hampshire standards. Students in grades 3-8 take the ELA and math assessments; science assessments are administered in grades 5, 8, and 11. At CES, grades 3 & 4 will take the Math & Reading tests this month.
- Grade 4 - Math Test (5/21), Reading Test (5/22) & Make ups (5/23)
- Grade 3 - Math Test (5/29), Reading Test (5/30) & Make ups (5/31)
NWEA MAP Test
Grades 1-4 will take the NWEA MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) tests in Math and Reading again this month. MAP is a computerized adaptive assessment that measures your child's knowledge of reading and math. All students are asked the same number of questions, but the difficulty of each question is based on how well a student answers all the previous questions. The results from the NWEA tests provide teachers with accurate, actionable evidence to help inform instructional strategies regardless of how far students are above or below grade level.
Annie Jr.
CES was invited to see Indian River School's production of Annie Jr. Students in grades K-4 attended the performance on Thursday, April 25th. We did a school read aloud while we waited for Enfield Village School to arrive and the show to begin! Students absolutely loved the play especially the dog!!!!
Jump Rope For Heart
We had over 130 students stay after school for our event. Everyone had fun!!!! Thank you to everyone who donated! We raised $3,902 for the American Heart Association!

New Hampshire Dance Institute
We are so excited to have New Hampshire Dance Institute (NHDI) back at CES for a third year! NHDI brings dance into schools to empower, enrich, and energize all children while teaching confidence and inspiring excellence. This week students will be working hard and having fun all week learning a grade level dance. Students always love having fun with NHDI, even those students who say they don't dance. This year CES will be going to the big stage and performing their dances for friends and families in a culminating night performance at MVRHS on May 3rd.

A Note From Your School Nurse
Cavities (tooth decay) are the most common chronic diseases of childhood in the United States. Poor oral health can have a detrimental effect on children’s quality of life, their performance at school, and their success later in life. The mouth is the entry to the digestive tract and the organs that allow breathing, called the respiratory tracts. So sometimes germs in the mouth can lead to disease throughout the body. The good news is that cavities are preventable.
To protect your oral health, take care of your mouth every day.
Brush your teeth at least twice a day for two minutes each time. Use a brush with soft bristles and fluoride toothpaste. Brush your tongue too.
Clean between your teeth daily with floss, a water flosser or other products made for that purpose.
Eat a healthy diet and limit sugary food and drinks.
Replace your toothbrush every 3 to 4 months. Do it sooner if bristles are worn or flare out.
See a dentist at least once a year for checkups and cleanings. Your dentist may suggest visits or cleanings more often, depending on your situation. You might be sent to a gum specialist, called a periodontist, if your gums need more care.
Contact your dentist right away if you notice any oral health problems. Taking care of your oral health protects your overall health.
