Last week we let you know we would be opening a new class for our very overcrowded second-grade classrooms and that we had a teacher coming to us from Virtual School House. Mrs. Jerrilene Smith is currently in the building setting up the classroom for students and preparing for a special Meet and Greet with those students and their parents this Friday. We cannot wait for our staff, students, and families to meet her.

The second-grade team has been discussing student placement for the last two weeks to prepare for this move. This was a challenging yet well-thought-out decision as we worked to balance the classrooms. You will receive an email from me Wednesday morning to let you know if your child is moving to the new room on Friday or if your child will stay in the current classroom.

Please note that if your child is moved to Mrs. Smith, they will continue to go to specials with the classroom from which they were moved. (Example: If Amy is moved from Mrs. Wilson's class to Mrs. Smith, Amy will continue to go to specials with Mrs. Wilson's class.) This will give students an opportunity to still be connected to their friends.

We know that every family has their thoughts and opinions on this decision. However, we ask that you please honor the decision made, as we have talked extensively about what to do and what is best for students. The staff and I intend to make this as smooth as possible for your children and families.

Again, thank you for working with the PVE staff to do what is best for students. We believe there is amazing value to gain from lowering these class sizes. We are eager to welcome our newest teacher to our staff, someone who comes with the highest praise from her former administrator! So welcome, Mrs. Smith; we are thrilled to have you join our team.
