Mustang News - November 3rd, 2023
From The Principal
Happy November! Thank you to the numerous families who participated in Conferences last week. This week I had the chance to see deep learning in so many classrooms: AP Physics students deriving their own formulas to measure the period of flying pigs in AP Physics, students debating interpretations of the Constitution, and students applying real world skills during our Coffee Coral. Additionally, I would like to congratulate our Fall Athletics teams on great seasons! Congrats to our Cross Country team on their state performance, including Cody K. (2nd), Cody W. (7th), and Elisa K. (15th); our Boys’ Soccer program who made it to the Sweet 16 round; our Volleyball team who had strong leadership and teamwork throughout the season; and our Football team who finished with a win against Lamar! Thank you to the coaching staff, students, and families who invest immense time, energy, and passion into creating incredible opportunities for our teams! Go Stangs! Enjoy your weekend! For the first six months, no passengers under 21, unless a parent or other licensed adult driver over 21 is in the vehicle.
For the next six months, one passenger under age 21.
Medical emergencies are exceptions.
At any time, no more than one passenger is allowed in the front seat.

From Sources of Strength...
For November, SOS is sharing information about our basic human needs. Most of us understand our physical needs: air, food, water, shelter, but we also have two emotional needs, attachment and authenticity.
Attachment is how we come to understand that our physical needs can and will be met, which leads to a secure attachment to others; if our needs are not consistently met, we develop insecure attachment, which creates patterns of adaptive behavior.
Authenticity is how we feel safe to express our true self around others. Sadly, we will always sacrifice our authenticity for attachment, since our physical, survival needs must be attended to before our emotional need to belong. There are ways for us to increase this sense of psychological safety for ourselves and others. For more information, check out the bulletin board between the school's front door and the front office window.
If you want to get involved in helping SOS create and facilitate our monthly campaigns, please attend one of our weekly meetings: Thursdays at lunch in Doc Moen's room (12).
