Spring has been a season of excitement and achievement here at Capay! From academic triumphs to joyful celebrations, our students and staff have been working hard and keeping their eyes on the prize. Here are just a few highlights from our action-packed spring season:

Dear Capay Families,


Spring is a time of growth, celebration, and new beginnings—and that spirit is alive and well here at Capay! As we move through the final stretch of the school year, we’re filled with pride in our students’ achievements and grateful for the unwavering support of our families and community.


One shining example of that incredible community spirit was the playground project, where we replaced the old tire bark with fresh wood chips—a much-needed refresh for our students’ play space. This was no small task, and it could not have been done without the tremendous efforts of our dedicated parent volunteers and PTO partners.


We extend our deepest gratitude to the following individuals who gave their time and energy to make it happen:

THANK YOU, PTO!

🏆 County STEM Success!

In early March, our talented Colts proudly represented Capay at the Glenn County STEM Fair, and they truly shined. A special congratulations goes to Allie Irvin, Kate Goss, and Isaiah Wathen, who earned all three of the county-wide awards! Even more exciting—Madi Lefor, Camila Vargas, and Brenda Ocegueda Hernandez were selected to compete at the California State Science Fair! We are incredibly proud of all our students and deeply grateful to our teachers, staff, and families for their support through every step of the scientific journey.

🎒 Spring Field Trips & Activities

Learning extends beyond the classroom! This season, our students explored and experienced learning in new ways:

  • TK-1st Grade enjoyed the Laxon Performance

  • 6th-8th Graders toured CSU-Chico, imagining their futures in higher education

  • 8th Graders got a sneak peek into high school life with a visit to Orland High School

🎉 Celebrations & Special Events

Spring wouldn't be complete without some fun!

  • We celebrated St. Patrick’s Day and enjoyed some April Fools’ Day fun (check out the photos!)

  • Kite Day brought joy and color to the skies

  • We recognized student achievements at the 2nd Trimester Awards

  • Our own S.T.E.M. Expo allowed students to showcase their innovative projects

  • English learners wrapped up ELPAC testing with a special celebration hosted by Mrs. Mercado

  • The Colts took to the field for Softball season—go team!

  • Thanks to the PTO, students enjoyed a dynamic STEAM Assembly
