Judy Center Early Learning Hub
at Sudlersville Elementary School
It's all about Nursery Rhymes, Traditional Tales and Traditional Songs during Judy Center at SES Playgroup in the month of March
During the month of March, Judy Center at SES Playgroup lessons will be focused on nursery rhymes, traditional tales and traditional songs. Believe it or not, there are tremendous benefits of your child learning nursery rhymes. Scientific research supports the belief that learning nursery rhymes help children develop cognitive, speech and language skills and can set your child up for a successful future as a reader. There's something about the rhythm and patterns of nursery rhymes that captivate a child's mind and imagination, helping them to build early language and literacy skills. Those early language and literacy skills will support them throughout their lifetime. The next time you have to recite a nursery rhyme, read a traditional tale or sing a traditional song again and again, just remember all the effort will pay off in the long run for your child.

Dr. Seuss
The rhyming structure allows children to naturally learn about word families and begin to create a mental library of sounds. Dr. Seuss's books have been popular around the world for decades, they are fun, silly, and great to read.
The rhythm and repetition of words promote brain development in children, helping them learn how language works, develop memory, and build solid foundations for learning. Reading rhyming books to babies and young children is important because it helps them develop a love for learning and prepare for communication.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Two interesting facts about St. Patrick's Day: 1) Irish immigrants began celebrating St. Patrick's Day in Boston in 1737, and 2) The first St. Patrick's Day parade was held in New York City in 1766.
