Next Grade 8 MCAS Testing Dates!
Below is a reminder that Grade 8 Math MCAS Testing will occur on Wednesday, April 30th and Thursday, May 1st.
On the dates of testing, test-takers need to bring a charged Chromebook and their power cord to school. The tests are taken on their Chromebook, so this is very important. We do not have extra Chromebooks or power cords.
Given the high-stakes nature of the MCAS, the State Department of Education requires that we provide students with an extremely strict testing environment. For students, this means:
Headphones, iPods, or electronic devices may not be used during testing. All cell phones will be collected by test proctors before the exam and returned to the student at the end of the exam period. No exceptions. Students may bring books and schoolwork to do should they complete the exam before the end of the testing period.
Students must be in their assigned exam room no later than 7:33 a.m.
You can help your son or daughter prepare for this state-wide assessment by reinforcing the importance of:
Giving your best effort on each test question
Being on time
Getting a good night’s sleep and eating breakfast

The Native American Garden Club is extremely proud of the work that they have done to bring back our Taunton High Garden. Please join us on Tuesday, 5/13, after school in the garden (side of A house between the parking lot and Head Start building) to learn more about our "learning garden". There will be indoor plants for sale with a gift (while supplies last). Many departments and clubs have come together to make this garden possible, Please come see what individual staff and departments have contributed; it's awesome! For instance, the Art department and Art Club made and painted these beautiful pots. Thank you to Ms. Houlker, the advisor, and her students.

Taunton senior goalie Cam Tomaszycki set a number of program records in his final season between the pipes for the Tigers. Tomaszycki set the program record for most wins (47) and games played (87) and became the first Tiger goalie to hit the 2,000-save plateau. This season, he posted a 14-6 record with a 2.81 goals against average and a 90.3% save percentage while leading Taunton to its best finish in the Hock since joining over a decade ago. “Cam has had a stellar career,” said Taunton head coach Kris Metea. “He wore the Tiger jersey with pride and came with a solid work ethic. His success is a direct reflection of his commitment and sacrifice. I will miss him in the net and in the locker room. He gave future goalies a role model to embody going forward.”
Taunton head coach Kris Metea has been named the 2025 HockomockSports.com Boys Hockey Coach of the Year after leading the Tigers to 16 wins and their best ever Hockomock record since joining the league in 2012.
The Tigers finished tied for second in the Kelley-Rex division just three points behind Franklin, posting a 5-3 record with wins over Attleboro, Foxboro, King Philip, North Attleboro, and Oliver Ames. Metea guided Taunton back to the state tournament after going 15-5 in the regular season, earning the #13 seed in Division 3 and a home playoff game, which they won, 3-1, over Bishop Stang.
Metea also guided the Tigers to three in-season tournament championships (Prenda Cup, Valley Holiday Tournament, Battle for Bristol).
“Over the years, Taunton has continued to grow and become a tough game for Hockomock opponents,” said HockomockSports.com Editor Ryan Lanigan. “Coach Metea has taken the Tigers from the bottom of the league to where they finished this year, second in the Kelley-Rex division and another playoff appearance — and win. Taunton has continued to improve each year.”
This is the first time Metea has received this honor. Previous winners include King Philip’s Toby Carlow (2024), Canton’s Brian Shuman (2013, 2014, 2019, and 2022), Franklin’s Chris Spillane (2015 and 2016), Oliver Ames’ Sean Bertoni (2017), and Foxboro’s Mark Cedorchuk (2018 and 2020).
