News From Mr. Gonzalez
Parents, TCES is committed to ensuring that all students receive the best education that they can. In order to do this we need students to regularly come to school. Please review the information below to learn more about what the importance of your child's regular attendance can have on their ability to learn.
DID YOU KNOW?
ā¢ Starting in preschool and kindergarten, too many absences can cause children to fall behind in school.
ā¢ Missing 10%, or about 2 days each month over the course of a school year, can make it harder to learn to read.
ā¢ Students can still fall behind if they miss just one or two days every few weeks.
ā¢ Being late to school may lead to poor attendance.
ā¢ Absences and tardiness can affect the whole classroom if the teacher has to slow down learning to help children catch up.
Attending school regularly helps children feel better about schoolāand themselves.
Start building this habit in preschool so they learn right away that going to school on time, everyday is important. Eventually good attendance will be a skill that will help them succeed in high school and college. Please, help ensure that your students attend school daily.

Kindergarten News
It is so hard to believe that we have completed a quarter of our school year already!! In kindergarten we have had so much fun learning that time has flown by.
In reading, we continued to practice letter recognition/sounds, rhyming, blending words together, and added four new sight words. We will continue all of that for the month of October, adding new words every week and continue with phonics and phonemic awareness.
In math we practiced numbers 0-10 for the month of September. In October we will compare numbers 0-10. Please be on the lookout for information about classroom Halloween parties. Thank you so much for your continued support of your childās education.

Hi Families!
Happy Fall!
During the second quarter, students will be refining art-making techniques as well as engaging in many art projects. We will be exploring a variety of art media. Children will be working on collage, bookmaking, drawing and painting.
We always love donations of egg cartons! When students work with tempera or acrylic paint, egg cartons are used as paint palettes. We throw them out after use, so we go through quite a lot of them.
As always, please reach out with questions or concerns or ideas. We welcome your input about current and future art projects!
Be well,
Thea Storz

Spelling Bee News
Hi Families:
TCES/ SEC will hold its fourth annual spelling bee this January. Classroom spelling bees will be held early in January, and one to two students from each class will participate in the school spelling bee. The study list is included in this newsletter. Your childās teacher can also provide a copy. Or, I can email you a PDF if you ask!
An excellent study tool is the WORD CLUB app. Itās free to download and is super fun to use, I highly recommend it!
Our school spelling champion will represent us in the El Paso Spelling Bee. The winner of THAT bee will participate in the Scripps National Spelling Bee, which will be in the late spring of 2025 in National Harbor, Maryland.
Please note that during the school competition, students will be given words randomly, without regard for age or grade. The spelling bee is single elimination; the last speller remaining in the competition is the winner. For more information about the Scripps program, for study tips, and for reading lists, please visit
