Elementary - Ms. Mary Tatum - ES Dean of Students
Hello Elementary Climbers,
“Our reaction to a situation literally has the power to change the situation itself.”
– Abha Thakur
\
If you are “feeling it”, the scholars are as well. A gentle word turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. We have to be conscious of our responses to scholars and one another. It is alright to take a moment before responding.

MCP what time is it? It's time yo get loud, it's time to represent!
If you see a scholar wearing an over sized Notre Dame (Irish) Jersey take a moment to congratulate them. A scholar has to exemplify Knowledge plus Character in and outside of the Irish classroom to wear this jersey. Check out Isis Manning below.

TRECK to Excellence...….Continue to highlight the positive through public praise, positive phone call, & TRECK Credits. Please give special recognition/duties to Scholar of the Week
Friendly Reminders
*Our TRECK value has changed. We are now focusing on Courage! Please update your boards and have conversations with your scholars about taking healthy risks to uplift others.
*Scholars should NOT be dismissed to walk to any class independently. All classes must be escorted by an adult to their next destination. If you have another class, please text admin for support. If you have prep, please take scholars to their next class. Thank you Ms. Ward for always ensuring an adult is present before leaving scholars.
*Full withdrawals are not working when the procedure is not being followed!! Please make sure you make parent contact and find time to restore with the scholar! It is essential that we remember in the moment that "we are the adults". Going back and forth with scholars is not beneficial for you, the scholar, or the other scholars around.
*Data (daily attendance, LW, uniform)
We had 11 full withdrawals, 9 of those were restored. We also had 3 suspensions this week. Scholars and teachers are feeling the" Spring Break itch". Please continue to hold scholars accountable but also seek to understand as decisions and consequences are being made. Let's focus on the "Do not Engage" strategy. Alot of times we get caught up in the moment of a desired outcome and forget that we are the adults in the situation that are supposed to be the example.
*Mandatory Lifework scholars are: Chris Fortenberry (7th), Keairra Baggett (7th), Jenina McCullom (7th), Kyle Riley (7th), Darius Little (8th), Donte Finch (7th), Melvin Willis (7th), Dallas Ellis (8th), Kimani Nash(6th), Jonae Jackson (7th), Jerry Bradley (7th)
*This Friday is a dress down day to end Stomp Out Bullying Week...the theme is "
"Blue n Boots"....Yes scholars can wear jeans!
*This Friday is a special Stomp Out Bullying Kickball Game in the gym.
5th & 6th grades meet in the gym at 1:30-2:00 Side A of the gym
7th & 8th grades meet in the gym at 1:30 -2:00 Side B of the gym
(kickball with boots on, this will be interesting!!)

Let's keep our focus on STANDARDS MASTERY! How often are you looking at your classroom data? This is a DAILY practice! We just can't keep piling concepts when previous ones haven't been mastered.

All Math and Science teachers have grade level planning this week. We will be digging into classroom data and setting/reviewing goals for the rest of the year.
