FAPS #WeAreFenton Community Update
March 6 , 2025
Spring into FAPS!
Dear Fenton Community and Families
March is here, and let the Spring weather commence! We are all starting to ramp up for our last quarter of the school year.
The State of Michigan State Assessment window will start the second week in April, and the vast majority of our students and teachers will be navigating these as well as preparing for the last part of the school year. We also are starting to look at next school year already. Kindergarten Information night and Signing-Day are coming up. Also in this newsletter is our settled calendar with our teachers for next school year for your planning and review.
I will close by wishing you all a safe and restful Spring Break to come at the end of the month from March 31st-April 4. If you are heading somewhere for the break, please be safe in your travels if you are staying home enjoy the respite, and if you are still working thank you for your service to our community.
2025-26 School Calendar
We are proud to announce the school calendar for next year is out. Please take a look as we have a change to our 1st semester exam window, and when the 1st semester will conclude. Thank you to the FEA for their cooperation in getting this out early to our community!
Spring Break Food Distribution
From St. Jude's Church (a valuable community partner):
For those on a tight budget, Spring Break can put a damper on a family’s food budget
when your children are home during the day. St. Jude’s Church can help. We would like
to provide the children in your family with a week’s supply of breakfast and lunch
groceries to help your family bridge the gap for meals your child would normally receive
during that week.
The Spring Break Food Distribution is at St. Jude’s Church (106 E. Elizabeth St. at
corner of S. Leroy St. and Elizabeth St.) on Saturday, March 29 th between 9 am and
3pm. We are excited about partnering with Fenton, Lake Fenton and Linden schools to
help people in our community. There are no pre-requisites for the program, just show up
(if you have a reusable grocery bag you could bring it along). We look forward to seeing
you on Saturday, March 29 th .
If transportation to St. Jude’s is an issue for you, please let us know and we can
arrange to have the groceries delivered. Simply call the church office at 810-629-5681
and let us know how many children there are in your family and the delivery location.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at the number above.
National Social Worker Month
March is National Social Worker Month, and we'd like to take this opportunity to thank our social workers as well as our School Home Coordinators for the awesome work they do to help our students and families navigate life! MANY MANY THANKS!
Also, a big thank you to our two on-site clinician's from Easterseals - Leann Buffmyer at FHS and Shayna Irvine at AGS. They allow us to have a mental health continuum, not many other districts can create. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
Registration and Enrollment
It's hard to believe that we are already talking about enrollment and registration for next school year, but it's true! Online enrollment for new students and the registration of current students is open.
New families will want to create a Parentvue account to enroll students.
Current FAPS families will login to your existing Parentvue account to add new students and/or update your current students information.

Spring State Assessment Calendar
April will start our Spring Assessment Window where we are required to administer the state assessments to our students in grades 3-11. Please see your individual building newsletters for details as to when during the calendar window these tests will be taken and help your student with a great night's sleep and proper nutrition. Thanks for your help and cooperation!
BOND Update and Construction
We are progressing in Series I of our bond construction, and are making great progress on AGS and the main office additions. As I have mentioned previously, we will have construction happening starting over Spring Break at all three of our K-5 buildings and at AGS. We will start constructing egress entries as well as construction staging over Spring Break. We will then start construction promptly on June 2, 2025 at 5 of our 6 buildings with FHS being the only building without construction. We will be hosting all of our summer programming at the high school this year to allow for optimal use of the summer months to help complete the first phase of construction at WOW, SR, NR and TOMEK. Please know that our playgrounds are undergoing a remodel this summer and will not be accessible to the public during construction.

Board of Education
Our school board held its regularly scheduled work session on Monday, March 4, 2025. Our board president and and vice president have also been busy with our weekly bond meetings to ensure we are moving along with our bond construction bids, and other various tasks to bring the improvements to fruition in a timely manner. We appreciate them and their help and dedication to our district, as well as all of our school board members that show up for our district events to support our students and staff.
