Spartans Update

Go for the Gold, Go for Growth
Dear Spartan Families,
💙 April is Autism Awareness Month 💙
This month, we recognize Autism Awareness Month—a time to build understanding, celebrate differences, and promote inclusion for individuals with autism.
Autism, or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), affects how people communicate, learn, and interact with others. It’s important to remember that no two individuals with autism are the same. Some students may need extra support, while others may thrive with independence. What’s most important is that we see the strengths in every child and meet them where they are.
At East Point, we are committed to creating a learning environment that supports all learners. Simple acts of kindness, patience, and empathy go a long way in helping every child feel safe and valued.
We encourage you to talk with your child at home about the importance of inclusion and acceptance. Together, we can help all students feel proud of who they are.
Thank you for being our partners in creating a welcoming and supportive school community!
Thank you for being such a vital part of our school community. We are Spartan Strong because of YOU! And always remember, East Point Loves You!

ATTENDANCE
90% Attendance/Loss of Credit
Dear Parents,
Please review these important reminders regarding attendance:
State Attendance Requirement: The State of Texas mandates that all students maintain a minimum of 90% attendance.
Absence Notification: If your child will be absent, please notify the attendance clerk. You have up to 72 hours to report absences.
Loss of Credit (LOC): Any student whose attendance falls below 90%, whether due to excused or unexcused absences, will receive LOC status and will need to make up the missed instructional time. Please note that the Attendance Committee may recommend grade-level retention based on attendance concerns.
Attendance Monitoring: You can monitor your child's attendance at any time through the Home Access Center (HAC).
Truancy Warning Letters: A truancy officer will deliver warning letters if a student accrues three unexcused absences.
Preventive Measures: To address attendance concerns, the school may implement measures such as 45-day attendance contracts, parent conferences, or phone calls.
Thank you for your attention to these important matters. Consistent attendance is crucial for your child's academic success. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Carrillo/AP at 915-434-4502.
