Dr. V's Message
Week 8
We are in the swing of fall and halfway through the semester. Our sports teams are preparing to finish their seasons and move to playoffs in a few weeks. We have A Homecoming football game and dance on October 25th and 26th. Our performing arts are rehearsing for upcoming shows. Our teachers are working to support and challenge each of their students as they work to learn and succeed in the classrooms.
In addition to what is highlighted in the message, please look at the upcoming events for different ways to connect with the school and prepare for life after high school.
RBV Surf Club
Our Surf Club's season of competition was a success! The Longhorns dominated the waves, and we couldn't be prouder—a powerful shoutout to our exceptional coach, Harris, for leading the way.
Let's celebrate our Longhorns:
- Philippe G. secured 5th place overall in the BB category and was awarded a medal for his outstanding performance.
- Lucy P. achieved a remarkable 2nd place overall in the SB category, earning a well-deserved medal.
- CJ S. advanced to the Repechage round in LB, showcasing impressive skill and determination.
- Charles D., Evan R., and CJ demonstrated their prowess by making it to the semifinal round in SB.
- Additionally, Taj Hay and Nathan G. made significant contributions to our first round point total with their commendable performances.
- Throughout the season, points earned at each contest will accumulate, leading to an exciting season finale where students in the top 6 overall will proudly receive trophies!
Remember, points earned at each contest accumulate throughout the season. And for those who reach the top 6, trophies await!
Get ready for the next contest on Sunday, October 27th, in OB by marking your calendars!
RBV Band and Color Guard
Congratulations to our incredible marching band and color guard on their outstanding performance at the Rancho Bernardo Field Tournament this past weekend! Their hard work, dedication, and talent truly shined. Let's keep the momentum going as we cheer them on for their upcoming competition at the Vista Field Tournament this Saturday. Good skills, band, and color guard!
Seniors
Families of Seniors - It's college application season! UC/CSU applications opened October 1st and will be open through December 2nd. Please reach out to your student's RBV Counselor if you have any questions about the college application process.
E-Bike Safety
The expectation for students riding two wheeled transportation is that all riders and passengers must be wearing a buckled helmet when riding to and from campus.
Let's be good neighbors!
Our community partners at the shopping center across the street recently met with our leadership team to express concerns about the behaviors some students exhibit when they are in the stores. Our team will work with the stores to identify RBV students who exhibit unexpected behaviors, and parents will be notified. Let's all support being good neighbors. Students should not be dropped off or picked up at our local shopping areas. Please use the school lot for pick-up and drop-off.
