Staff and Parent Spotlight
We want to highlight staff members and parent volunteers who go above and beyond to make our school the magical place that it is.
Staff Member: Kasso Harvey
Ms. Kasso has created numerous new student groups and makes time for individual sessions to support our students. Ms. Kasso takes the time to teach coping skills and patience to students. She steps into classrooms when needed, helps in the office, and anywhere on campus that is needed. Ms. Kasso is kind and gentle at all times and always validates students feelings.
Parent: Julia Blum
Julia has kept our After School Enrichment program running this year. From finding teachers and clubs to teach a variety of classes to promoting the sessions to all of our families, Julia spends countless hours putting together this beloved program. This year, Julia went the extra mile to find an online platform for registration that helped our program run even more smoothly.

Volunteers Needed for Field Day on the Last Day of School (Friday, June 7)
The PACS Leadership students are putting on their annual Field Day on the last day of school - Friday, June 7. They could use a dozen parents during each shift (grades TK-3, 4-6, and 7-8) plus a few helpers to clean up at the end of the day.
This is a great way to send our students off into summer! For more details and to sign up for one or several shifts, click here (https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080848A4A62EA6FF2-49545396-2024).

State Testing (CAASPP)
Each year, students participate in the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP). Your child will take the following tests, depending on their grade level or instructional program:
Smarter Balanced Summative Assessments for English language arts and math, required tests in grades 3–8 and 11
California Science Test (CAST), a required test in grades 5 and 8 and once in high school.
You are an important part of your child’s education. To make sure your child feels comfortable taking tests, you can:
Explain to your child that these tests are tools to help them learn, and they should not be anxious or scared.
Ensure your child eats a good breakfast and gets a good night sleep during testing.
McKinley/PACS State Testing Schedule:
May 6 - May 10: 3rd & 5th Grade
May 13 - May 17: 4th, 6th and PACS (7th/8th)
