PICTURES & NEWS
BREAKFAST FACES 11-9-2023
These photos came from the 1st-3rd grade breakfast and the kindergarten breakfast that followed.
DISCOVERY 4TH GRADE ART
Ms. Montgomery had students learning about perspective as they drew sky, mountains and rivers. Next week they will do the same thing but with much more detail and with added color.
EXPLORERS MORNING MEETING GREETING
The classroom group formed a circle and then students and Ms. Fitzgerald took turns finding someone else in the circle to hook pinky fingers as a form of greeting. Each newly greeted person then got to have a greeting with another person in the circle. After picking a person to greet, students sat down so that it was easier to select from the remaining un-greeted students. Ms. Fitzgerald lucked out because she got to greet two students with a pinky greeting.
VETERANS DAY POSTER
Here are two community service members from the Explorers community getting ready for the Veterans Day celebration.
RENAISSANCE SOCIAL STUDIES PROJECT
Groups of Renaissance students have engaged in a complex globe-making project. Three large sheets of paper were taped together and a graph carefully drawn on the poster-sized sheet. Coordinates were written along the edges. Using coordinates on a supplied document, students then outlined the earth's continents over the graph. They followed that task by coloring in the continents and oceans. Later on they will slice into the top and bottom of the poster so that it can be folded and shaped into a globe.
This project is teaching students how to follow detailed directions and how to use coordinates for mapping purposes. It is also teaching them the shapes and locations of the continents. Ultimately, students will have a strong grounding for the places on the earth where human events and activities take place.
ADVENTURES (BEAREGARD) PET VISIT
Mr. Brown, an ESP in the Adventurers community, brought his puppy to the adventurers classrooms for the children to briefly experience. The photo below is of Ms. Miller holding the puppy.
