What's Happening in our School!
Dear Parents and Community Members,
We are back in the swing of things! It is so nice to see the halls filled with children once again. We are looking forward to another year filled with joy, learning, experimenting and new exciting challenges. Please bear with us as we experiment with our new newsletter format. We hope that you find this more helpful and easy to navigate.
Other news, our LSC has begun their training on Principal Selection. All are welcome to attend the LSC meetings to learn how this process will move forward.
Have a great week!

A Message From Mrs. Carlson
What a wonderful beginning to the new school year. I’m so appreciative of the warm welcome
I’ve received from the entire school community. I was even given a Prussing t-shirt that I
proudly wore at the Back-to-School Bash last Friday. Students are back and eager to learn
despite those first few days of unbearable heat. We all survived and are ready to go!
Thank you for your attendance at our kindergarten open house and information night for
grades 1 – 8. I’m confident many of your questions and concerns were addressed. We’re
excited about the new parent volunteers who applied. We look forward to working with you to
ensure your student’s success.
We are launching a renewed effort to keep the website up-to-date and have adopted a new
format for biweekly newsletters. Log on frequently and check your email for regular updates.
The PTO and LSC meet monthly, dates are on the website and reminders appear in the
newsletter. Attending these meetings is a great way to stay abreast of ongoing activities.
Sports are underway and information about after school programs will be forthcoming.
Again, thank you for your hospitality. We are off to a great start and looking forward to the rest
of the school year. Go Panthers!!

🦷 Dental Compliance 🦷
Are your students Dental compliant? All Kindergarten, 2nd grade, 6th grade, and 9th grade must have a dental exam completed by a licensed dentist before May 15th of the school year. In partnership with the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH), CPS offers on-site, preventative dental services at no cost to ALL Pre-K-12th grade students. Schools are assigned a dentist or can be requested; for more information and dental resources view the Master Dental services and requirements (24).pdf
Volunteer Information
If you are interested in participating in school activities, such as field trips or classroom parties, you will need to apply to be a volunteer through the Chicago Public School Process. It is highly recommended that you complete Level 1 so that you are completely covered for all events. For example, when homerooms go on a field trip, a parent needs a Level 1 status to monitor a small group. Here is a link to more information.
Donors Choose
We cannot do it without your help at times. Please consider supporting our students and teachers with building the most engaging atmosphere possible to reach all of our students!

Step Up Program
Lutheran Social Services of Illinois (LSSI) STEP-UP School-Based Therapy Program.
The STEP-UP counseling program is a school-based service through Lutheran Social Services of Illinois (LSSI). They provide individual and family counseling and case management throughout the school year and summer. School-based counseling can focus on a wide range of issues important to you, like challenges with school, family, friends, or individual concerns. In the summer, services are provided virtually, at an agreed upon location in the community, or at the LSSI office. The services that they provide require written parent consent. For students 12 or older, they can provide up to eight 90-minute sessions without parent consent. The STEP-UP school-based therapist at Prussing is Isabella Thompson, LSW. This is her second year placed at Prussing and she will be here on a full time basis this school year.
