Bethel Flame

A Message from the Principal
As a final reminder our annual pancake breakfast and open house will take place on Sunday, February 9th from 7:30am–12:30pm. This is also the start of a very fun and active National Lutheran Schools Week. We are excited to have Good Shepherd from Pekin participating in our chapel with us on Wednesday followed by a magic/art assembly by an artist named Dan Gogh!
Speaking of the pancake breakfast and National Lutheran Schools’ week, I have 2 special reminders. The first is that our students are scheduled to sing in our early and late church services this Sunday. They will sing at the end of early church and the beginning of late church. For early church please be there by 8:30 and for late, by 10:45. We ask that students either sit in church with the parents or gather in the entryway with me. We encourage your attendance at this as we receive a large amount of support from our congregation, and this is a great way to show them the awesome students and families that they are supporting.
The second reminder starts with a thank you! Thank you all for stepping up to volunteer for helping with the pancake breakfast. This is going to be a fantastic event. We have good coverage for everything, but we can always use more help in the areas of set up and clean up. We will be meeting at school at 10:30 on Saturday to set up for the breakfast and on Sunday, we will probably be able to get started cleaning up by 12:15 (for sure by 12:30). The more hands we have the faster this will go, so thank you in advance for any help you can give.
History was made on the 25th of January in that we hosted our first ever archery competition. We invited Cuba Middle School and High School in for this event. There were four divisions, Middle School Girls, Middle School Boys, High School Girls and High School Boys. Medals were awarded to the top 3 in each division and Bethel took 9 of those 12 awards.
A Ramsey Solutions-based workshop for parents, Smart Money Smart Kids, will be sponsored by Trinity-Peoria and hosted at Concordia Lutheran School on Saturday morning, March 15. It will be co-led by Trinity DCE Scott Rauch with Drew Monkemeyer (Concordia principal) and Meghan (his wife) making use of targeted age-focused video segments and opportunities for discussion and planning by parents. There is no cost for the workshop and there will be free childcare and refreshments, but they do ask that people register in advance HERE.
National Lutheran Schools Week
National Lutheran Schools Week is almost here! We are looking forward to seeing our students at Bethel Lutheran Church THIS Sunday to sing, toward the end of the 8:00 AM service and the beginning of the 10:45 AM service. Please click on the graphic for reminders of the special dress days and activities taking place throughout the week. Friday, February 14 is our annual special person day with classroom activities and a chapel service for your student and a special guest; school on that day will be held from 9:00-11:00 AM, with no lunch or extended care available.
2025 Pancake Breakfast & Open House
It's pancake time! THIS Sunday (2/9), join us for a fantastic breakfast and bring your friends along to check out our wonderful school. Breakfast will be available from 7:30 AM to 12:30 PM, and NEW this year will be a silent auction added to the fun!
Sausage pre-orders may be picked up at the school kitchen any time during the breakfast. There is still time to sign up to help too! If you haven't already grabbed a shift, please visit our sign up sheet HERE to fill in any remaining volunteer slots. Please encourage your seventh and eighth graders to volunteer too; they will earn funds for their Chicago and Washington, D.C. trips.
We can't wait to see you there!

Spring Break Champ Camp
Do you need help with childcare during Bethel's spring break? Champions is offering a spring break Champ Camp right here at Bethel! Sign up for the week or a day or two - whatever works for your family. Enrollment opens on February 20, and you can find all the information you need HERE.
Please note that there is a minimum number of sign-ups needed in order for Champions to hold the camp, so they will confirm with all registered families by early March.
Narnia Crew Signup - 5th Through 8th Graders
For our 5th through 8th students that are not already part of the Narnia cast, please click HERE to sign up for one of the various crew needs for the musical. There are options for set painting, stage setup and tear down, graphic design, marketing, tech, costumes, hair/makeup, ushering and more! Please remember that unless in the cast, your student's participation grade for this project depends on them signing up to help in one of these areas. We look forward to seeing you all for a great show on May 9!
2024-2025 Yearbook Sales
Reserve your 2024-2025 yearbook copies now! Online sales are open, and you can order yearbooks HERE using the code: 90913H

The Snack Shack is Open!
The Snack Shack is open every school morning from 8:15 to 8:25 in the commons, with snack prices ranging from $.25 to $1.00. Seventh graders will be selling snacks each morning to raise money for overnight field trips in 7th and 8th grades. Students are welcome to purchase a snack to help us raise funds for our trips. THANK YOU!
Preschool Fun
During February, the preschoolers will enjoy a valentine exchange and will jump into our next unit full of favorite books and nursery rhymes. It's our goal to develop a love of reading in each of our students that will last a lifetime! Preschool parent teacher conferences will be held on Monday, February 10 and Tuesday, February 11, with no preschool on those two days. Please sign up for a time to meet with your child's teacher. Our next Chapel services will be on Monday, February 18 and Tuesday, February 19, at 9:15 each morning in the Church sanctuary. All are welcome to join us! The preschool February Bible verse is, "God is love." 1 John 4:8
As spring approaches, we will get back outside to enjoy our playground on days weather conditions allow, so please send coats and play clothes/shoes with your child each day.
