Conferences
We are looking forward to meeting with all of our parents and caregivers next week. Our teachers have been preparing important information to share and a full picture of your child's current skills and development. Please be on time for your conference as each conference has a set window of time to allow each parent/caregiver the same amount of time to hear and discuss student information.
Monday Conferences:
Conferences on Monday are held in person at the Primary School. Please enter our main entrance, door A4 for all conferences.
Tuesday Conferences:
Conferences on Tuesday are virtual. Your child's teacher will send you the link and information on how to log on for your conference Monday afternoon at the end of the day.

Winter Weather=5 Points!
Yesterday we had our first taste of winter weather with snow and blowing winds. We will go outside for recess every day during the winter as long as the windchill is above 10 degrees. Research shows that kids who spend more time outdoors are more physically active, and physical activity drives positive health outcomes. "It is not only medically sound, but plain common sense that running around outside in the winter is far more beneficial that being cooped up indoors" -Dr. Michel Cohen, Author and Founder of Tribeca Pediatrics
Doctors note that daily doses of fresh air increase circulation, boost immune systems and promote overall wellness and kids generally sleep better.
To prepare for colder temperatures and snowy fun, all students should come to school with the 5 points. This means a warm coat, hat, mittens, snow pants and boots. Without these items, students will not enjoy their recess time and students without boots and snowpants will not be allowed to play in the snow. Winter can be a fun time for our students, so please send them to school with all of the proper gear. Thank you!
December Breakfast and Meal Forms
Don't forget to sign up your child for breakfast (K) or breakfast/lunch (EC/WELE). The forms are below for the month of December. Thank you!
PBIS Corner-School to Home!
The connection between home and school is an important part of your child's success. Using our ROAR expectations at school and carrying that over to the home setting is a great way for children to hear a consistent message from the adults working with them and caring for them. Below we have outlined how you can use positive language with your child and direct messages to support your child. The link to both the English file and Spanish file are attached. We hope these tips and suggestions help bridge the connection between home and school and sends the message to your child that we are in this together.
eLearning Bags
In an effort to be as prepared as possible for an eLearning day, you will be receiving an eLearning tool kit for your child. Because the Primary School isn't a 1:1 school, meaning every student isn't issued a device, if there is an eLearning day called due to weather or another emergency, our students will be doing activities at home and these bags contain the materials needed to complete those assignments.
We ask that you keep these bags stored in a safe place so that they aren't opened before an eLearning Day.
Your child's eLearning bag will also have instructions on how to access the office hours with their codes and what is expected on an eLearning day. We know that our age group of students (3-6 years old) that the hands on activities we are assigning will be something that all students can do whether they are at home, at a grandparent's home or another setting.
The eLearning Plan for Primary is located on the button below. You would receive a notification through email and text if we were going to have an eLearning day. If you have questions about the eLearning tool kit, please reach out to your child's teacher.
Celebrating Our School Board Members!
November 15th was National School Board Members Day. To recognize the outstanding efforts of the nearly 6,000 elected school board members throughout the state, November 15 of each year is designated as "School Board Members Day" in Illinois. This is an opportunity to build community awareness and understanding about the essential role locally elected board of education members assume in a representative democracy.
We appreciate the dedication and efforts of our Woodland District #50 School Board members and so our Primary students and staff put together a short video to say, thank you! Click the link below to check it out!
District Food Drive 2024
It's a Woodland tradition! This time of year we begin preparations for the Annual Food Drive. Over the previous years, we have been able to serve our Woodland families by providing additional support during the holiday season. With the generous donations from our staff, students and their families, we set up a Woodland Food Pantry with the hopes that everyone can enjoy this special time of year.
Ways to Participate
If you are interested in participating, there are many different ways you can help! From donating food, to volunteering, to signing up to receive food for yourself or for others, there are plenty of ways to get involved.
Food Donations
One option to support the Annual Food Drive is to bring in non-perishable food donations to school, or drop off at the district office. Please follow these guides to help us make sure that there is a wide variety of items available for recipients.
Financial Donations
Another way to show your support is to donate funds through the district website. Your donation will go toward purchasing food and other needed items for Woodland families. In past years, Woodland has been able to provide a gift card to families to purchase fresh food items to supplement the non-perishable items that are available from the food drive.
We are accepting food and financial donations now through December 2, 2024.
Receive Donations
If you are interested in receiving food, Woodland families are invited to self-register. Or you can nominate a deserving family who may need support this time of year.
