"Stay in the Loop" 2024-2025 6th Edition
Principal Letter
As we entered the beautiful month of October, we were reminded of our special devotion to Our Blessed Mother through the Rosary. October is celebrated as the Month of the Rosary, a time when we, as a Catholic community, come together to reflect on the mysteries of Christ’s life through Mary’s eyes and seek her intercession for our needs.
This year, our students had the unique opportunity to join with other Catholic schools from across our diocese in prayer. On October 7, the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, our students and staff gathered in the church to pray the Rosary with Bishop Earl Fernandes, who led the prayer virtually from the Cathedral. We are especially grateful to Ruthie Ransom, Ben Mathys, and Lauren Mathys for representing St. Pius X at the Cathedral during this special event.
Students from 53 Catholic schools participated in this beautiful diocesan-wide Rosary, united in prayer for intentions that included the dignity of the human person, vocations from among our students, the spiritual and temporal needs of all members of our school communities, and for the bishop and clergy of our diocese.
This was a powerful reminder of the strength of our Catholic faith and the beauty of coming together in prayer as one body of Christ. May Our Lady of the Rosary continue to intercede for us and guide us closer to her Son.
God is blessing us with another beautiful weekend--enjoy!
Lisa Ruth

MORNING DROP-OFF -- PLEASE READ!
We have had SEVERAL staff members nearly hit by cars during morning drop-off due to parents not following the designated loop or driving too fast. We kindly ask all parents to drive slowly, stay attentive to pedestrians, and follow the loop regardless of how many cars are lined up waiting for the school to open. Please be aware that staff members and their children park at the rear of the lot and must walk through the parking area, which is often dimly lit in the mornings. We will be making changes on our end to create a crosswalk designated for staff.
We work hard to keep your children safe—please help us keep our staff safe, too!
**NEW Road Closure Coming Soon!**
There is NO School on the Day the Road Closure is Scheduled to Begin
According to the City of Reynoldsburg, starting Friday, November 1, there will be a significant change to the traffic pattern on Waggoner Road. Waggoner Road will return to two-way traffic; however, there will be no entrance from Main Street. Families traveling from south of Main Street can take Lancaster to Rodebaugh or Taylor to Priestley as alternative routes. I will try to send a text reminder on Sunday evening and will update you if the city announces any changes.
Grandparents Day
Our 3rd graders had the great honor of hosting some very special guests for Grandparents Day. The morning began with a beautiful Mass, followed by a delicious breakfast and fun, engaging activities for everyone. The highlight of the day was our adorable 3rd graders entertaining their grandparents! A heartfelt thank you to Miss Camp, Mrs. Bernay, Mrs. Ryan, Mrs. Kline, Miss B, and our amazing parent volunteers for working so hard to make this morning truly unforgettable.
All Saints Day - Holy Day of Obligation (No School)
Although our students will not have school on Friday, November 1st, we’d like to offer a friendly reminder that it is All Saints Day, a Holy Day of Obligation. Our teachers will begin the day by attending morning Mass before participating in professional development with a national literacy coach.
St. Pius X and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton will have Holy Day Masses on 11/1 at 8:30 a.m. & 7:00 p.m.
Our School Advisory Board is Looking for Subcommittee Members
The School Board Advisory Committee is excited to ensure that your voices are heard this year. Below, you’ll find a list of various subcommittees, along with descriptions of their focus areas, that you can join to actively participate in our ongoing discussions, planning, and actions on these important topics. If you're interested in getting involved, please sign up using the link below. Our committee leaders will be in touch in the coming weeks to provide next steps.
You might be wondering about the time commitment. We ask for one to two hours each month, either in person or via Zoom, until the end of the school year. We truly value your input and want to ensure your voices are included in everything we do for the benefit of our children now and in the future.
Subcommittee Descriptions
Parent Engagement:
We need to increase the visibility of SAB members and find ways to build a stronger sense of community. While the HSA has someone focusing on this area, we want to ensure that a few SAB members are always present and introduced at these events.Alumni:
Our goal is to create an alumni database and plan at least one alumni event. This will help foster alumni involvement for marketing, donations, enrollment, and overall support.Catholicity:
We aim to identify any gaps in promoting our Catholic identity and find ways to increase family attendance at weekend Masses.Marketing (SGO):
We're looking for members willing to speak at weekend Masses once a year and brainstorm additional promotional strategies. Assistance with writing thank-you cards would also be helpful.Planning:
One of our goals is to add an art room, and this committee could help guide that project. We will also explore other long-term planning initiatives that we should consider.Grant Writing:
We need volunteers to search for grants and ideally one or two individuals to help write them. If we don't have anyone with this expertise, this committee could focus on finding members within the SPX community who do.
If you have any questions, please reach out to Kat Terry Ujczo at kittyu@me.com.
Boxes of Joy
Thanks to the generosity of our families, our 1st and 4th graders raised $2,300 for Box of Joy, a Cross Catholic Outreach program recommended by Bishop Fernandes. After learning about the program’s impact, our 1st and 4th graders worked together to create cards to include in each box. Additionally, our 4th graders showcased their leadership skills by visiting classrooms to educate fellow students on how their donations will make a difference.
Veterans Day
We are preparing for our annual Veterans Day Program which will be held on Monday, November 11th. We are currently collecting photos of family members who are veterans, active military, reservists, or fallen soldiers to include in our slideshow. If you have submitted a photo in the past, we will use it again. If you have new family members you'd like to include, please complete this form:
Trunk or Treat*
We are currently accepting (and need) candy donations!
Thank you to all the families who volunteered to help with Trunk or Trunk which allows our HSA to continue to host this fun community event! We only need one more adult to serve as a hallway monitor. It’s an easy job—just relax in the hallway and ensure no students wander beyond the restroom area. Please email fstilwell85@gmail.com if you are able to help!
SPX Teachers Make Learning Irresistible!
8th graders modeled earthquake waves with slinkies in science!
Mrs. Feicht's 2nd graders were scientists for the day and conducted an apple investigation experiment.
Our 6th graders had the opportunity to demonstrate volcanic eruptions.
Let Your Light Shine
Owen O'Driscoll, a kindergartner in Mrs. Evans's class, let his light shine by reading a rhyming book to others in his reading rotations group as Mrs. Schneider was temporarily called out of the classroom.
Ben Mathys, Lauren Mathys, and Ruthie Ransom attended the All-Diocesan Rosary at the Cathedral with Bishop Fernades.
We are thankful for our students who "shine their lights" by reading during Masses.
