Swift - Slaybaugh Complex

Principal's Message
Dear Parents/Guardians,
The family of a 12-year-old Utah boy, Drayke, who took his own life is speaking out about bullying and trying to raise awareness through their movement called #DoItForDrayke. Drayke’s family says that “He loved to make people laugh. He loved to do what he could to always make sure that somebody had a friend.” He had a heart of gold and was kind to everyone around him. They are devastated by the loss and want to do what they can to make sure no other parent has to go through the tragedy of loss like they have.
While this initiative speaks directly to suicide, here at the Swift-Slaybaugh Complex we want to take this opportunity to focus on and educate our students on how their behavior affects others. We also want to stress the importance of being a good friend and always being kind to one another, despite our differences. From June 6th through June 17th our school will be participating in a #DoItForDrayke challenge. Each morning the students will hear about a different character education trait over the announcements. For these ten days, students will have the opportunity to earn a purple ticket by displaying acts of kindness, being a good friend, and for showing respect and leadership. On June 17th each homeroom teacher will randomly pull a purple ticket to choose a student to win a #DoItForDrayke book bag. These book bags are sponsored by EHT community members and parents Dominic and Andrea Pugliese and their charity “Built with Love,” along with 724 Bagger Co. A huge thank you to them for supporting and promoting a very relevant and worthy cause.
Please join us and take this opportunity to talk to your child(ren) about kindness and how their actions can affect others.
Also, please see the video below in which students from our school explain the event for us.
Sincerely,
Joe Marinelli

We are excited to kick off our "Little Eagles Fun Run" program on June 1st. Our goal is to raise $25,000 for student achievement and activities & staff enrichment. This will help strengthen our school community. To make our fundraising more profitable and fun, we have partnered with Boosterthon! Boosterthon is a 2-week fundraising campaign that promotes fitness, teamwork, and character while helping our school raise much needed funds! The program will begin with a kickoff video on June 1st and end with an epic Fun Run experience on June 10th!
All students will run 35 minutes and get pledges for each lap they run (Ex: $1 per minute = $35) or they can get flat donation pledges as well. As they get pledges, they have the opportunity to earn fun prizes too. Between kickoff and Fun Run, students will learn about character, be issued nightly challenges, and get pledges from friends and family to help their school!
We completely understand if your family is not in a position to financially support the school right now. You can still be involved by simply SHARING about our fundraiser with friends and extended family online at MYBOOSTER.COM. Sharing IS supporting! Just as we worked to safely begin school this year, we are also safely hosting this essential fundraiser based on our school’s current guidelines. We’ll send more details, as we get closer to our kick off.
