Morning Drop Off
We are seeking your assistance and attention to the matter of morning drop offs.
As you may know, our school doors open at 8:15 a.m. for us to welcome the arrival of our wonderful scholars.
However, we have been seeing an influx of students being dropped off as early as 7:30 am and begin to walk around the school buildings with their friends, engage in playful behavior, and run around chasing their fellow schoolmates.
While safety and supervision is crucial during this time, it does become a hard task to monitor a crowd full of scholars and direct traffic.
We are reaching out to ask for your assistance to please drop off your scholars between 8:15 and 8:30 so that we can limit the amount of time a scholar is waiting for entry to the school.
Thank you for your understanding and partnership.
Attendance
Examples of Lawful Absences include: death in the immediate family, illness, suspension, observance of religious holidays, court summons, etc.
Please be sure to provide a note to the school when your child is absent. Electronic notes are also accepted using this link https://shorturl.at/kmoL4
Families are encouraged to refer to Administrative Procedure 5113 for more information.
Grading Policy Reminder
According to Administrative Procedure 5121, classes that meet 3-5 times per week require a minimum of 2 grades per week entered into SchoolMax and classes that meet 1-2 times per week require a minimum of 1 grade per week entered into SchoolMax. Additionally, please be mindful that AP5121 also states "Teachers must return graded papers and assignments within ten days of submission in order to provide on-going, timely feedback to students and parents."

Career Day 2024
Hello Parents/Guardians:
CMIT North MS Counseling Office and STEAM Department are planning Career Day Wednesday, May 15, 2024. Our theme is “The greatest education in the world is watching the master's at work.” It is our intention to expose our students to a variety of career choices and to encourage them to think about their future.
If you or a friend, relative, or spouse is willing to be a presenter. Please email their name and contact information to yurhance.johnson@pgcps.org or justin.field@pgcps.org. I have attached the Career Day 2024 letter below with more information. Thanks in advance.
Algebra I Student Teacher! (From Ms. Wake)
In the 7th and 8th grade Algebra I classes, students are learning about solving quadratic equations using factoring. Students are using their knowledge about the concept and applying it to word problems. This week students had a challenging problem to work on. Issa Ayoub from the 7th grade Algebra group not only solved the problem but was able to come to the 8th grade class and teach the problem to them! Great job Issa!
Best Secretary Ever (From Dr. Wilkins)
I have never met a more hardworking secretary. Thank you Mrs.Spence!
LITTLE EINSTEINS FATANMI, OJIFINNI, & ELZAREE SECURED 2ND PLACE IN THE 2024 AASHTO STEM OUTREACH SOLUTIONS BRIDGE CHALLENGE 7th-8th GRADE DIVISION
Eighth-grade students Aderemi Fatanmi, Tanitoluwa Ojifinni, and Sara Elzaree known as “Little Einsteins” won 2nd Place in the 2024 AASHTO STEM Outreach Solutions Bridge Challenge 7th-8th Grade Division held at Hyatt Place Downtown in Madison, Seattle on April 23-25, 2024. Each team member and the teacher-advisor received a $300 and $250 e-gift card. Their dream not only to be in the Nationals, but winning in the Nationals became a reality because of their hard work and determination.
At the Finals, teams presented their bridge and gave a 10-minute presentation in the panel of judges, and structurally tested their bridges against teams from other states to determine the winning bridge.
The TRAC Bridge Challenge is a national competition designed to promote an interest in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). The program enhances math and science instruction and introduces students to engineering through hands-on real-world applications. The team designed and built TRUSS bridges and tested for strength-to-weight ratio. After completing the project, they developed a report portfolio describing the design and testing of the bridge and created design drawings using Bentley PowerDraft CAD software.
Our scholars diligently spent more time researching, experimenting, designing, building, and testing their bridge, and finally finalized their portfolio by writing a bridge proposal for the Bridge Challenge. According to the American Association of Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) organizer, they received 94 proposals from across the United States. For the scoring process, the portfolios were sent to sponsors and bridge engineers across the U.S.
Two and not one of our teams- Little Einsteins and Us-2-TRUSS made it as Finalists after submitting their portfolio last February 2.
The following teams comprise of the following eighth-grade students:
Little Einsteins- Tanitoluwa Ojifinni (81), Aderemi Fatanmi (81), Sara Elzaree (82)
Us-2-TRUSS- Zeymal Ali (81), Gabriella Mbakop (82), Valeria Pena-Jordan (81)
To our students' family, CLF, and CMIT staff, thank you for all the support and prayers you gave to our teams, and for believing in us.
Most importantly to our students, our CONGRATULATIONS for your dedication and hard work.
