ATTENDANCE UPDATES

Beginning with the 2024-2025 School Year, we will no longer accept calls for picking up a student for early dismissal.

Parent/Guardian must come into the school and sign the student out.

Sorry for this inconvenience, but this change is necessary.

You can always send a note with your student and we will provide the student with a pass for the dismissal time.

DFMS Student Attendance Excuse Form

Career Corner

8th Grade Tours of the Center for Advanced Technical Studies (CATS) will take place September 30 & October 1, 2024. Students will attend 1 day according to the Den assignment. Permission slips will be distributed for students and are due no later than Friday, September 13th to your students' Den teacher.

If you are interested in being a chaperone, the interest form is attached to the Tour Information letter and Student Permission form that will come home with your student. You must also fill out a D5 Volunteer Forms (all 3 volunteer forms must be submitted to Fiona Lofton at flofton@lexrich5.org by Friday, September 13th). Drama

DFMS Honors Theatre

FALL MUSICAL AT DFMS!

The DFMS Honors Theatre Program in collaboration with the Exploring Dance classes (first semester students only) will present HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL, JUNIOR on the DFMS cafeteria stage on November 14 (featuring "Cast A") and November 15 (featuring "Cast B") at 6:30 p.m. All Honors Drama students enrolled in Honors Drama first semester will be in both performances, but may play different roles for each.

TICKET INFORMATION:

Audience tickets will be $5.00 for ages 17 and under. Tickets will be $7.00 for ages 18 and up. All DFMS and DFHS faculty and staff will have free admission (and their families). Tickets will be available the day of the show beginning at 5:45 p.m. and exact change is very much appreciated. Parents of Honors Theatre students do not need to purchase a ticket for both shows, but please keep your ticket stub to show proof of payment.

Athletics

FCA will hold its first meeting of the year on Wednesday, September 4. We will meet from 7:45 to 8:10 in Room 406 on the Purple Hall. Please join us for breakfast snacks, fellowship, to learn more about our club, and to meet new people! We look forward to seeing you there!

Girls Lacrosse

We are excited to announce an upcoming interest meeting for our Girls Lacrosse Team. Scheduled for Monday, September 16TH at 6:30pm to 7:30pm in the DFHS Athletic Building Presentation Room.

This meeting will provide interested students with all the information they need about joining the team, including practice schedules, game details, and the benefits of being part of our lacrosse community.

We look forward to welcoming new athletes to our team!

JV GOLF

Wrestling

Come be a part of one of the best wrestling programs in the state! Preseason wrestling begins Tuesday September 3rd from 4pm to 5:30pm in the high school wrestling room. This is open to anyone and everyone interested. Students must have all of their paperwork completed on Big Teams. If you have any questions or would like more information, please contact Coach Bush at CoachBryanBush@gmail.com.

Boys Basketball

We are in the process of scheduling an interest meeting for students and parents. It will be sometime in mid-September. We will post about the meeting in this Parent Newsletter that goes out each Friday night. We will also post it on our Basketball website, Facebook page and Instagram accounts.

The most important thing right now would be to make sure everything has been uploaded and approved on https://studentcentral.bigteams.com/. That is where you will upload a copy of your athlete's physical, birth certificate, and complete about 5 or 6 other forms to insure his eligibility. Both of you will have to create an account and then as the parent, you would link them together.
