The Roadrunner Review
Welcome Back Edition 2024-2025
Principal Message
Roadrunner Families,
Welcome to the 24-25 school year! Summer seemed to fly by, but I'm so excited to have all our Roadrunners back on campus. Our Scott Libby teachers and staff have been working hard to get ready for an amazing school year full of learning and fun! This newsletter will provide you with some important info about the upcoming school year. I will send out parent newsletters each month showcasing all of the awesome happenings at Scott Libby as well as important dates to remember.
Please stop by the front office or give us a call if you have any questions or concerns. We are committed to providing a high-quality education for all of our students. See you soon!
Respectfully,
Kara Fox
Principal
Open House
Open House will be held on Tuesday, July 30th from 4:00-6:00 pm. This is the time where you can meet the teacher, see the classroom, walk the campus, talk to our amazing PTA, purchase spirit wear, and so much more! If you need to speak extensively to your child's teacher, please schedule a separate appointment for a conference as teachers will have a class full of families to meet. This allows us to honor everyone's time and privacy. We are excited to meet everyone!

Reporting Absences
If your child is absent, please call the attendance line at 623-535-6203 or email at sleattendance@lesd79.org
The education of our students is extremely important, and being in class is vital to their academic success. School attendance is not only a good habit, state law requires it. Arizona State Law (15-802.E, 15-803.) requires every person who has custody of a child between the ages of six and sixteen years shall make sure the child attends school for the full time school is in session, unless unable to attend due to illness or another legitimate reason.
To encourage and improve school attendance, Litchfield Elementary School District has implemented a truancy program in partnership with Maricopa County Juvenile Court. This truancy program is called C.U.T.S. (Court Unified Truancy Suppression). We will be tracking attendance very closely. We appreciate your cooperation in this very important matter. Remember, kids who attend school more often will learn more!
School Safety
Important components of school safety at Scott Libby Elementary for students, families, and staff:
- School gates are closed and locked during school hours
- All classroom doors are locked at all times
- All visitors and/or volunteers must check-in and out through the front office
- Our front office will remain locked during school hours. Please ring the doorbell.
- The school has authority to not allow visitors on campus at their discretion.
- After a volunteer applies and is approved, volunteer opportunities must be pre-arranged with the classroom teacher and communicated with the front office prior to volunteering
- Evacuation/fire drills are completed once per month
- Lockdown drills are completed multiple times per year
- Bus evacuation drills are completed at least 2 times per year
- Staff participate in continuous safety protocols and training throughout the school year
Transportation
As we approach the new school year, we want to remind you about the opt-in process for transportation services for the upcoming 2024/25 academic year. It is crucial that you complete the opt-in process to ensure that your child(ren) can access transportation services this year.
We have partnered with EZRouting, our transportation management system, to streamline the enrollment process. The application now allows access for multiple parents or guardians, enabling them to enroll students for transportation services collectively. This enhancement caters to situations where students reside in separate households, facilitating a more inclusive and convenient enrollment process.
Here are the steps to opt-in for transportation:
- Visit the EZRouting Parent Portal at EZRouting Portal. (See QR code below.)
- Download the application on your smartphone/device.
- Log in with your credentials or create a new account if you haven't used the system before.
- Follow the prompts to enroll your child(ren) for transportation services for the 2024/2025 School year.
- Review and confirm the transportation details for your child(ren).
We have started our routing for the year so it is crucial that you opt-in as soon as possible.
We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring a smooth transition for transportation services next year.
If you have any additional inquiries regarding transportation arrangements for the upcoming year, please contact our transportation department at 623-547-1571 or transportation@lesd79.org.
Respectfully,
Jenny Tassin
Director of Transportation

Tax Credit
Tax credit donation is a win-win combination! You can donate up to $200 as an individual or $400 as a couple to your child's school and receive full credit on your state taxes. Our tax credit money is essential in helping us continue the programs and activities we have become accustomed to providing for our families. This money can help fund field trips, before and after school activities and clubs, character education programs, and music, art, drama, and sports programs. Click here for more information and forms. The staff and students of Scott Libby Elementary School thank you for your support!
