January 17th 2025 Principal's Message
Hello Blevins Families,
We've completed another exciting week at Blevins. Wrestling and Girls' Basketball have both begun and we can't wait to see how well our athletes perform in the coming season. They've already shown the incredible team spirit and attitude that always makes us proud of our Bruin teams. Looking forward to seeing you at these sporting events!
Another celebration: last week our students completed their Winter MAPs assessment. This test provides us with a check-in regarding each student's progress in their reading and math skills. Across the board, we've seen excellent growth from so many of our students. In particular, I want you to know of the fantastic growth that we have seen in our students' reading scores in all grade levels. Our students are putting in strong effort, and our teachers are dedicating so much to their students every day, and it's showing!
Attention 8th grade parents, on Thursday our students will begin the process of registering for high school. It's an exciting and nervous time, but we have a great partnership with our high schools to make this a smooth process. That day, students will come home with a course registration sheet. Please reach out to our 8th grade counselor, Anna Burris (annab@psdschools.org), if you have any questions.
There is no school on Monday as we celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Stay warm!
Proudly,
Joe Zappa, Principal

9th Grade Registration Information
The time for 9th grade registration has begun! No matter the high school your 8th grader will be attending, we will be working at Blevins to best support students in the big transition ahead. We wanted to make sure we communicated our plan, as well as provide resources for the registration process at each high school. Please see our 9th grade registration information page on the Blevins counseling website for important upcoming dates and additional information.
From the Blevins PTO
Hello Bruin Family,
Hope everyone is off to a great New Year! I just wanted to say “Thank You” to everyone that came out to Café Mexicali last night to support our Bruin’s fundraiser. We do not have the tally yet of what was raised but will communicate that one when we do! Also a reminder that our first PTO meeting of the new year will be Tues. Jan. 28th @ 5:30PM. Would love to see some new faces there if you can make it!
Stay warm this weekend and take care!
Shauna Moffatt
PTO President
(Please reach out! Love letters preferred but hate mail will be read 😉)
Important Vision and Hearing Screening Information
We need several more volunteers to help with vision and hearing screening the morning of Tuesday, February 11 from 8:00 am-11:00 am. Please sign up through Raptor. You will receive an email about the screening process shortly before the scheduled date. Contact Becca Dahl, Health Tech, at 970-488-4007 or bdahl@psdschools.org if you have any questions.
