Backpack Program
For those of you who are new to Scott, I wanted to make you aware of our Backpack Program. At the end of last year, we sent home 15 backpacks full of food each week to our families in need. This impacts more than 30 kids total. I expect us to have more of a need this year. In order to keep the program up and running, we need a steady supply of food/donations coming. We send home these backpacks full of food on the weekends so we can ensure that students have something to eat. I also provide snacks daily to those students who need it. This will be our seventh year running this program, and we couldn’t do it without your support!!
If you would like to donate nonperishable food items to our pantry, you may put them in the wagon in the foyer. (In the past, I have given a list of suggested food items but it seems like I get those exclusively. In order to get a variety of items, please just donate nonperishable food items that your family enjoys.)
In addition to food, I am also able to accept monetary donations and gift cards. If you are interested in going that route, you may get in touch with me directly. Whether you decide to donate food or money, know that our families are so very grateful for any assistance that you may provide. In addition, if you need assistance, please reach out to me directly at Carla.moore@d11.org! 🙂
You have, no doubt noticed that construction has begun on our new playground. We are excited to be getting a full new of play equipment for both our small and large playgrounds. We anticipate that the Kinder playground will be completed by Monday and the other playground by the end of next week. Thank you for your patience as we get a fully functional and safer place for our students to play set up.
Before and After School Supervision
Morning supervision begins at 7:35 AM. Please do not plan to drop your students off before this time, unless they are eating breakfast in the cafeteria. At 7:35 students may begin lining up at their assigned classroom spot. All teachers will be outside on the first day of school with signs! After school we provide supervision until 3:05. Please plan to pick up your students before this time. We do ask that the playgrounds remain closed after school. This helps us quickly identify students who need assistance connecting with parents. The park next door is a beautiful place to spend time with your students after school if you wish to enjoy time together after school.
