Staff Spotlight
This week our Staff Spotlight is on Emily Minkow who is our amazing, Music Therapist! Emily exudes passion not only for the benefits of music therapy with our special education students but she is incredibly committed to her students and their teachers. Emily has never told me, but I can see that she believes she is an essential part of a team for all of her students. She partners with our students’ families, their teachers, their SLPs, PTs, OTs and school admin to make sure that she is adding value to our school and our students. This is often a challenge to do when you are at 5 schools (K-12) but Emily makes it look easy. When watching Emily teach, you are not only blown away by her amazing voice but by her patience, her professional knowledge and the positive, calm environment she creates. Thank you, Emily, for all you do at New Prospect! We are lucky to have you!

Media Release Permissions
By now you should have most of your media permission slips collected. If you are missing any, please follow up with the parents. Cindy has extra copies at the front desk if you need them. Also, please add the names of any students who do not have photo permissions to the document linked here. This document is housed on the staff Google Drive.
More TKES
Invitations for TKES pre-conferences will be coming soon. They will likely take place between September 14-27. Amy and Stephanie will meet with each PLC.
Remember, everyone needs to have completed the TKES Orientation, Self-Assessment and Goal Setting by Friday, August 31st. If you are still unable to access the platform, or you are not able to complete these steps, e-mail Stephanie Haga ASAP. Amy and I will not be able to see who has completed the requirements until after the window closes, so we are counting on you to get this done. Thanks!
PKES
PKES employees, we will meet in the Design Lab at 10:30am on August 31st for our PKES planning meeting. At this time, we will discuss the PKES process as well as how to select your SMART goals for the year.
Google for Classified Employees
All employees should now have access to the Staff Google Drive. Directions for how to access the drive are linked below. If you need help, let Stephanie know.

College Week 2018
We will celebrate College Week at New Prospect from Monday September 10-Friday September 14th! This is a time for you to reminisce about your college days, share collegiate experiences with students and promote your alma mater. We will be celebrating in the following ways:
Door-decorating contest for all staff members
Staff members and students decorate classroom or office doors displaying the colleges they attended or a college you currently cheer for.
Displays can be as simple as a college sign or pennant, and can also be very informative, including college mascot, colors, majors, sports, etc.
Doors will be judged on FRIDAY 9/14 in the morning based on creativity, information provided and student involvement.
Winners be announced on the news on the following Monday morning, and there will be prizes awarded!
College bulletin board all about our staff
We want to learn about YOU and share interesting facts with our students!
If you did not do this last year, please complete this super short survey ASAP by clicking on the link: https://goo.gl/forms/yqNqJWRZ3Ioglc4N2
Sharing college facts on morning announcements for students- students can complete a survey for a prize – students can pick it up from the counseling suite starting 9/10 & return it by 9/14
Teacher Tailgate Party on Thursday 9/13
Stop by the courtyard for a cookout lunch! sign up with this link:

All staff can wear a college t-shirt Friday 9/14
The purpose of facilitating College Week at New Prospect is to provide information about post-secondary education to our students and help them build the connection between their current studies and options available to them in the future. We want to help our students be “college and career ready,” foster an interest in different colleges and universities, and also allow staff members to have fun celebrating the start of college football season!
Questions/concerns? Let me know!
Thanks,
Christina McLeod
