Attendance
We are inching towards the end of the school year, so let's finish the year with strong attendance!
- As always, all absences must be submitted via the Sapphire Community Web Portal within 3 school days of the absence.
- Pre-approved excused absences may not be granted during the first ten (10) days and the last ten (10) days of school
- Students who are arriving late to school must be signed in inside the Paradise Elementary office by their parent/guardian.
- It is highly recommended that the parent/guardian email officePES@sgasd.org and/or send a note along to school with their child if he/she is leaving early for an appointment or if he/she is going to be picked up at the end of the school day as opposed to riding the school bus. Parent/Guardian picking their child up for early dismissal MUST bring their license to the office.
The district's full Attendance Policy can be found at the following link: Handbook Policy - Attendance. Please reach out to our attendance secretary, Mrs. Sarah Thompson, with any questions. thompsos@sgasd.org or 717-225-4731 x 1561

The 2024-2025 school year is coming to an end and my students are excited to show you some fantastic dance moves they have been practicing in Fitness class! All grade levels will be performing a different dance on Wednesday May 7, 2025 in the gymnasium during the Curriculum Fair. Our students have been working really hard learning their dances to perform for you! The dance schedule is as follows:
- 5:45-5:50 Kindergarten Chicken Dance
- 5:55-6:00 Grade 1 Funky Cowboy
- 6:05-6:10 Grade 2 Jump
- 6:15-6:20 Grade 3 Rhythm Stick Line Dance
- 6:25-6:30 Grade 4 Cotton Eyed Joe
The Laps for Learning fundraising fun day will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025. The Paradise PTO does a great job providing our students with fun and challenging experiences during this event! I create a crazy obstacle course lap for the students to run and each time they cross the start line they get a bracelet from a PTO volunteer. The students will also have time on two huge inflatable obstacle courses as well. The PTO then provides a cool, refreshing popsicle for the children to help them cool down after all that exercise! The Paradise PTO volunteers provide wonderful experiences for our students including field trips, treats, inflatable activities, teacher appreciation events and indoor/outdoor recess equipment. Please consider volunteering to help work a PTO event event or make a donation to their many activities throughout the year!
WELLNESS
Lessons in May will focus on preparing their Wellness booklets for the Curriculum Fair and learning about good and bad habits at all grade levels. April and May content include learning about germs, healthy & unhealthy habits, protecting the environment and how to protect ourselves from ultraviolet rays of the sun for grades 1-2. Third and fourth grades will study communicable & noncommunicable diseases and the immune system as well as learn about health risks associated with tobacco and alcohol use.
I hope everyone has a wonderful, relaxing summer! Mrs. Bortner
