How to Get People to Pay Attention
On Social Media!!
The World of Social
It's not easy to put yourself out there into the cyber world, not knowing who's watching or how it may be perceived.
But this is the way of the world!
This is the way of the future; how we connect, how we do business, how we contribute to society.
If we want to stay relevant in our business, we must find a way to be relevant in ways that suit our own beliefs and values, while getting noticed on social media.
YOU ARE SPECIAL
Because you're not like anyone else...nor should you be!
BUT....you can't attract the right people if you're showing up on social as someone else.
If you hide behind the products or hide behind the company, you're doing yourself a disservice because the people you want to attract will never know you're even there.
DON'T TRY TO BLEND IN, STAND OUT!
YOU are the SECRET to making your social media a magnet for people just like you!
The following framework will show you how!
What to Post
If people come to your page and are confused...they won't stay!
What to Say
Long captions?
Short captions?
Funny captions?
Emotional captions?
Fact-based captions? AHHH!!
The answer: All of the above
What's the Point
The biggest question you need to ask yourself here is..."what is my mission/purpose/value?"
WHAT TO POST
As a brand, you're building a relationship through serving, serving, serving every day so that when it comes time to connect, your audience will already be eager to hear what you have to say
Your Brand Story
Your brand story is what you want to be known for BEYOND Arbonne.
Activity #1:
- Make a list of 5-10 things you have experienced in your life that taught you something valuable that you could share
Activity #2:
- Think of a times when you went through a transformation(s). It can be physical, emotional, spiritual, career-wise, etc.
- Write down everything that was involved in that successful transformation. What did you have to do? Who did you have to become? What were your thoughts?
Activity #3:
- List 3 things you're OBSESSED with
- List 2 things you would like to see changed in our world
- List 3 things people often come to you for/or 3 things you're known for
*This is such an eye opening exercise because often times we don't give ourselves time to sit and reflect on all the amazing things we have done in our lives so far, and what we've come to learn about our experiences, and how it's shaped us to who we are today. Take your time with this and feel free to continuing adding to this list or tweaking it.
The FIVE FINGER Rule!
You can even assign a category to a day of the week to ensure you are organized and know exactly what you need to post when you need to post it.
Again, the idea is that if you have consistent content that you'll be sharing with people, they will begin to understand who you are and what you're about. They will come back to visit your posts/page because they know what to expect and like what they've seen so far!
Randomness is the enemy! It will create a hurried mindset around social media. It'll keep you stuck in the wondering what to post and when to post it. Randomness will kill your message and your deter you from your mission - the whole point to your presence on social. We will focus on that in the last section.
WHAT TO SAY
Think...
How can I tell a story behind this picture?
Who is this post serving? Me or them?
Am I trying to share, educate, entertain, make a point, get others to think?
Why did I stop scrolling to read someone else's caption? What made me read it to the end?
CAPTIONS
People need a reason to read!
Whether you have a long caption or short caption, you need a purposeful caption.
Your caption should inspire, educate, or entertain your audience!
Those questions above can help you think about what you should be writing about. Most people want to learn something new, or laugh at something funny, or even have an ah-ha moment!
Inspire: If you're thinking, how do I inspire? Think about what has inspired you in the past. What ways can you share your story or connect with people with the intent of inspiring?
Educate: What is something that would be considered helpful for your audience? What do you get asked about all the time that you could share about or teach? What's a life hack that has saved you time, money, or energy?
Entertain: People are on social to connect, and escape their mundane life. Share a funny story, a laughable moment, something you saw that made you laugh, or even something that would make someone smile. You don't have to be a comedian and there's nothing wrong with resharing someone else's funny moment, or meme... just make sure you're giving credit where credit is due.
Stop trying to keep up with everyone else on social and just be real.
The more real and relatable your caption is to YOUR audience, the better.
The more stories you can tell, the better.
The more you're able to express yourself, the more your captions will captivate.
Example: You post a picture of you and your daughter at the beach.
Regular caption #1:
"This is us having fun at the beach! What a great day it was!"
Regular caption #2:
"I'm so lucky I'm able to take some time out of my busy schedule to enjoy a relaxing day at the beach with my girl. Fam Jam!"
Inspired Caption; tells a story, a glimpse into your life, inspires people to think about their time and how precious these moments can be, and maybe even gets them to think about how they could create more time for moments like these:
"When we got home, Charlie said, "Mommy, that was the best day ever! I just love you". Moments like that are the reason why I love being able take some time off and enjoy what makes life worth living. That smile on her face!
Don't forget the little things and the little people in your life!"
Pro Tips:
- If you're writing LONG captions, be sure to break up the paragraphs into easily digestible bit-size pieces. Use bullet points and/or lists to make short points.
- Make sure the first 3-5 words are ENTICING. There has to be enough of a hook for people to press those 3 little dots to expand your caption.
- Use CAPITALS, emojis and proper punctuation. This creates the tone of the caption. Taking the time to ensure your grammar and punctuation is proper will go along way in helping your readers read through your captions.
- Use CALL TO ACTIONS: These will encourage your audience to engage with you. This will also help your engagement rate on the social media platform so that the algorithm will show your post to more people.
Examples of Call to Actions:

-Hit "Like"
-Save this "post"
-Comment below

Food For Thought: If you can speak it, then do it! Videos and podcasts are the anticipated trend for 2021
WHAT IS THE POINT
YOU are MEANT for MORE
We all have a purpose on this planet and we all have the right and opportunity to help those that need our help.
People need our vision, they need our insights, they need our energy, our words, our thoughts. People need to know that they are not alone and we have paved the way for them to find answers to their problems!
Are you THIS PERSON?!
"Ugh I don't want social media to be another job; another thing on my plate"
"Social media is time consuming and I can't fit in it!"
"Who cares what I post, I doubt anyone is even watching."
"My social will never grow, I never know what to say!"
YOU ARE MISSING THE MAIN POINT!
WHAT IS YOUR MISSION/VISION/PURPOSE???
Ask yourself these questions:
If I were completely financially free what value would I still offer the world?
If I had complete time freedom, how would I spend my time contributing to society?
If helping people really excites me, what would those people come to me for?
If I could start any movement, what would that movement be?
If you are dreading social media it's because you have detached yourself from your purpose!
A crystal clear purpose will give you the energized motivation behind doing the work. If the mission you have set out for yourself is truly aligned with what sets your soul on fire, then you'll be engaged with the entire social media process because you know it's the easiest and fastest way to get your mission out there to the rest of the world; to the people waiting for you to help lift them up.
THROW VANITY METRICS OUT THE DOOR
Detach yourself from the vanity metrics; You will always have someone who has a bigger following, and you'll always have someone with a smaller following.
*There is NO CORRELATION between the number of followers to the size of your business*
The idea is that you have a well-rounded following of people who ENGAGE WITH you.
They answer your polls, they ask questions, and you do the same for them.
That's called building a CONNECTION, growing TRUST, and ultimately making RECOMMENDATIONS.
An Arbonne consultant who has over 20K followers once said, "Most of my following are Arbonne Consultants! So it's even harder for me to find people on my Instagram who aren't already in the business and who want to hear what I do! But they are there, and I do find them!"
BONUS
FAQ's!!
1) Do I use a 'Personal' or 'Business' account?
There are different thoughts on this; some will say 'Personal' accounts will get more engagement, some say the analytics you get from 'Business' accounts is worth switching over for.
The Answer: Don't stress over it! The account you have is fine! If you started with personal, stay there. If you started with a business account stay there. Focus on a well rounded account that is engaging and none of the rest will matter.
TIP: Do NOT switch over if you have engagement on your account currently. That will most definitely decrease your engagement, switching back and forth.
2) Do I manage 1 or 2 accounts? Ie. Start a new account for Arbonne.
Some people have reasons for wanting to separate their personal and Arbonne accounts but if you don't have to, then don't. The simpler the better because the less you have to manage.
Simplicity breeds consistency.
3) Do I post everyday?
You don't have to! Consistency doesn't have to mean you have to post everyday but it does mean you need to stick to the schedule you have set out for yourself. If that means posting on the platform 5 times a week then so be it. Even checking in on the platform is considered consistent activity. So you don't need to necessarily post everyday but try to engage every day, even if for 20 mins.
4) Is video content more valuable than just pictures?
YES YES YES! The world is tuning into video content more than ever these days and you certainly want to take advantage of that to grab people's attention. It can be in the form of a FB Live, Reels, IGTV, IG Stories, Youtube etc! Explore which platform works best for you.
