Armada Middle School Newsletter
November/December 2024
It seems like just yesterday we were planning Tiger Days and working on student schedules for the school year. In the blink of the eye, here we are flipping the calendar to November and planning for the winter months ahead. Due to the shortened school month in December, this newsletter will contain information pertaining to both the months of November and December. The next edition of the newsletter will be in January 2025. With that being said, I’d like to take this early opportunity to wish our Armada Middle School families a safe and enjoyable holiday season!
First trimester classes end on Friday, November 22nd. Report cards will be finalized in PowerSchool the week of December 2nd. Second trimester classes also begin on Monday, December 2nd.
Congratulations to the AMS football, volleyball, sideline cheer, and cross-country teams on their great fall seasons. All the teams worked incredibly hard and represented the school with pride!
Students are expected to exit the building in a timely manner after dismissal at the end of the day. If students are in the building after school hours for tutoring, athletic events, or meetings they must be directly supervised by a staff member. A supervised study hall is available until 3:30 pm in Room 140 for students awaiting rides, practices, etc.

Communication is KEY
For some AMS students, facing responsibility is a daily challenge. If your child struggles academically and routinely states that, “they have no homework, they did it all in class, and/or have all their assignments turned in,” double-check with the online programs, PowerSchool and Schoology. You can check on their assignments and grades and then e-mail staff members from the PowerSchool site or call and leave voicemail messages on their phones. Come and check with the AMS office if you need a password and username for PowerSchool. If you do not have online access, please call or drop by the office and ask for a list of staff phone numbers.
Adolescent Outreach Counseling
Macomb Family Services provides free outside counseling services for those students who may be affected by family substance abuse issues. Licensed professional counselor, Dorothy Yope, can meet with students on a confidential basis during school hours for six to eight sessions free of charge. Students are required to make up any work they missed while in a session. Please contact Mrs. Husken in the AMS counseling center for more information, or you may call Macomb Family Services directly at 586-752-9696.
