Springdale K8 Community Memo
September 2, 2024
Happy Labor Day! I hope everyone had a chance to enjoy the beautiful holiday weekend as we bid farewell to summer. Labor Day is not only a time to rest and relax but also a moment to appreciate the hard work and dedication that each of us brings to our community. I trust that this weekend offered you a well-deserved break and an opportunity to recharge.
As we move into the second week of school, excitement is in the air! This week, we are thrilled to welcome our preschool and kindergarten students to our halls. Seeing their bright eyes and eager smiles reminds us all of the magic that comes with the start of a new school year. Our goal is to nurture their natural curiosity and wonder, helping them discover the joy of learning that will serve as the foundation for their academic journey. Our devoted primary team is fully committed to ensuring that each child develops strong reading skills and masters the essential math facts. But beyond the academics, we are here to celebrate the small victories, the moments of discovery, and the pure joy that comes with each new day of learning.
Reflecting on our first week, I am incredibly proud of how well our students embraced our school’s core values of being safe, respectful, and responsible. They demonstrated a true commitment to our community by respecting our three basic school rules, setting a positive example for everyone around them. This strong start fills me with confidence that we are on the right path toward a successful and enriching school year.
As we work to create the best possible learning environment, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to our families for supporting our no cell phone policy during the school day. By keeping phones powered down and out of sight, we’re able to help our students remain focused, engaged, and fully present in their education. While students are free to use their phones before and after school, they can also use the classroom or office phone to call home when necessary. Your continued partnership in upholding this policy is truly invaluable.
Finally, I’d like to remind everyone that on weeks where Monday is a holiday, we will have a four-day school week from Tuesday to Friday. This means that this Friday will be our first normal school Friday, and we look forward to seeing everyone in class, ready to learn and grow together.
Thank you for your continued support and dedication. Together, we are creating a vibrant and supportive community where every child can flourish. Let’s make this week another amazing chapter in our school year!
Have a great week!
Brett Joachim, K8 Principal
Mary Walker School District
This Friday is a regular school day!
We will continue to use Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) to foster a healthy school environment by setting clear expectations and building strong connections with our students. This week, students will review how to be safe, respectful, and responsible at school. They’ll also learn about earning Charger Cards as part of our positive reinforcement system. Most importantly, our staff will be actively seeking opportunities to help students develop their social and emotional skills.
Below are the core principles of our school rules.
