A Note from Your Principals
Progress Reports & Parent-Teacher Conferences
As we approach the end of the Trimester #1 grading period, we wanted to remind you that progress reports will be distributed electronically on Monday. These reports provide an important snapshot of your child's academic and social development, highlighting their strengths and areas for growth.
In addition, we are excited to announce that Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on early-release Wednesdays, beginning on November 20th. This is a wonderful opportunity for you to connect with your child's teacher and engage in meaningful conversations about their progress. Every family should sign-up for a time with their child(ren)'s teachers. If you haven't signed up for a time yet, see the Sign-Up Genius landing page below.
To ensure a successful conference, here are some tips for partnering with us:
Prepare Questions: Consider what you would like to know about your child's learning experience. Questions about their strengths, challenges, and how you can support them at home can foster productive dialogue.
Be Open and Collaborative: Share any insights about your child that can help us understand their unique needs. Collaboration between home and school is key to your child's success.
Follow Up: After the conference, discuss what you learned with your child. This reinforces their learning and shows them that you are invested in their education.
We look forward to seeing you at the conferences and appreciate your ongoing support in your child's education journey!
Veterans Day Celebration
On Monday, Eli Terry celebrated Veterans day by honoring 40 Veterans (our most ever!). 5th grade students opened with an a capella version of our national anthem, "The Star Spangled Banner." The 5th grade Band and Orchestra played patriotic songs, "America the Beautiful" and "My Country tis of Thee." Grade 2 sang "God Bless America" while Grade 3 showed off their flags made in art, singing "You're a Grand Old Flag." Grade 4 sang "Thank you Soldiers" while a slide show of past assemblies played. We had the presentation of our Wreaths Across America donation as well as a prerecorded interview of one of our currently enlisted Dads. Veterans Day was concluded with Veterans visiting classrooms to share experiences and field questions.
Thank you to everyone who donated to our Veterans Day fundraiser. With a last minute addition - our total donation to "Wreaths Across America" was $1,121!! That will purchase 65 wreaths!! This is our highest donation since we began this fundraiser in 2020.
In addition to our Wreaths Across America fundraiser and our AMAZING Veterans Day assembly, 4th graders also read America's White Table by Margot Theis Raven during library. This is a book about a special table set up to honor fallen, missing, or captured soldiers. Students learned what each item on it means—a white cloth for purity, a black napkin for sorrow, a lemon slice for bitterness, and more. This tradition helps honor and remember those who served. After reading the book, students were inspired to set up a table right here in Eli Terry!

Ivy the Very Determined Dog - Special Assembly
A BIG thank you to the PTO for the AMAZING "gift" they gave our Eli Terry community today!
Ivy's visit inspired our students and staff alike, reminding us that challenges can be overcome with perseverance, support from friends and family, and that our differences make us unique, not different. We even learned Ivy has a second book coming out in the spring; one that includes her sister Rosie. The most exciting part....Ivy and Maureen agreed to come back to visit and share it with us!
