Rockfield Elementary
October Newsletter
Notes from the Principal
We are off to a wonderful start already!
October is a jam packed month! We have a few teacher work days, conferences, Rocktober, the book fair and a few field trips in addition to all of the incredible learning experiences planned during the school day.
Additionally, we have our monthly assembly planned for Oct. 4. This month we are talking about Responsibility. One way to define Responsibility is βtaking action and understanding the impact of our choices.β Taking action can mean doing the right thing or completing the tasks you have been assigned. Understanding the impact of our choices means that our actions matter. Positive and responsible actions can help people and irresponsible actions can hurt others.
Thank you for all of your continued support to ensure a wonderful start to the school year!
Fondly,
Dana Croatt

Destination Imagination
Destination Information
Destination Imagination (DI) is a unique extracurricular opportunity for kids to learn the Creative
Process while working on a team to solve Challenges. Teams of up to 7 students work together to
create a solution to one of the 7 DI Team Challenges. Each Challenge has a specific educational
focus: Technical, Scientific, Fine Arts, Improvisational, Engineering, or Service Learning and the
Early Learners. Teams need to think on their feet, work together, and devise original solutions that
satisfy the requirements of their Challenge. Participants gain more than just basic knowledge and
skillsβthey learn to unleash their imaginations and take unique approaches to problem solving! Visit destinationimagination.org for more DI information.

Rockfield Health Room Updates π©Ή
Health Room News
Back to school means lots of new germs, Please keep your child home if they are not feeling well and/or have a temp over 100, diarrhea, an uncontrollable cough, thick mucus/very runny nose, or if they have vomited in the past 24 hours. They may return 24 hours after symptoms have subsided without the use of medication.
As the colder weather will soon be arriving, please send appropriate gear per weather such as hats, gloves, jacket and possibly some rain boots. The children go outside 2x a day unless the weather is below 0 degrees.
Please also remember that if you are sending in any medication it needs to be dropped off and picked up by the parent/guardian. The student may not transport any type of medication, and this includes cough drops. Links to the forms to be filled out are attached below. If your child requires an Epi Pen, inhaler, or doctor prescribed meds to be taken daily at school or to be taken incase of an emergency please bring them to school as soon as possible. I do have 2 child Epi Pens in the health room incase of an emergency. Please also see the nurse's email that was sent out in skyward, which lists reasons to keep your child home and why your child may be sent home due to illness.
Best wishes,
Kelsey Nowak

π Important Bus Information
π RITEWAY BUS COMPANY
PLEASE BE ADVISED OF THE FOLLOWING CHANGES/UPDATES FROM THE RITEWAY BUS COMPANY
- ADDING/REMOVING A STUDENT TO A ROUTE:
- If a family wants their student to begin or stop taking the bus they must notify Riteway (262) 677-3282.
- STUDENT DROP OFF CHANGE:
- If a family needs to change the drop off location (i.e. student now going to daycare) a special transportation form needs to be completed, returned to the school office, and signed by Dr. Croatt. The signed form will be emailed to Riteway and Riteway will confirm and/or deny the request.
- STUDENT GOING HOME ON SAME BUS BUT GETTING OFF AT A DIFFERENT STOP:
- Students going home on the same bus but getting off at a different stop need a note signed by their parent/guardian so the school and the driver are aware of the change.
- STUDENT GOING HOME ON A DIFFERENT BUS:
- This is ONLY allowed in the event of a family emergency and will ONLY be on an as needed basis. A note/email/phone call should be sent by the parent regarding the emergency so that the school and Riteway are aware of the situation and can convey what route and classmate the student will go home with for that evening.
