Reutter School Weekly Update
Week of October 7, 2024
School Counselor's Message
Reutter School Families,
This school year, the Week of Respect is observed from October 7 through October 11. This week offers our school an important opportunity to emphasize the prevention of harassment, intimidation, and bullying (HIB) while creating a supportive and inclusive environment that welcomes everyone. It's a time for students, staff, and the entire community to reflect on the importance of treating ourselves and others with kindness, empathy, and respect—values we uphold throughout the school year.
At Caroline L. Reutter School, we’ve spent the month of September focusing on our first RAM STRONG character trait: **RESPECT**. Through weekly character education lessons, our students have engaged in activities and discussions aimed at promoting respect not just in words, but in actions as well. This focus on respect will continue to guide us during the Week of Respect and beyond, as we work together to build a community that values everyone’s individuality.
On September 27, we were fortunate to host the Youth Alliance, which provided a dynamic presentation featuring motivational speaker Chris Hollyfield, also known as “Little Boogeyman.” Chris, standing at 4 feet 4 inches, uses his unique visual difference to help students understand the power of embracing individuality and respecting others, no matter how different they may seem. His life story of overcoming challenges and rising to extraordinary success captivated our students. Chris shared a powerful, student-centered message that encouraged everyone to find strength in themselves, respect one another, and reject teasing or bullying.
One particularly moving moment occurred during the assembly when a student was so touched by Chris's words that she stood up and gave him a heartfelt hug. It was a beautiful, spontaneous expression of the respect and kindness we strive to cultivate at Reutter School—an unforgettable reminder of the impact these lessons can have on our students.
As we prepare for the Week of Respect, I encourage all of our students to continue promoting respect in their daily lives by being considerate of others' feelings, listening attentively to different perspectives, and standing up against behaviors that hurt or exclude others. Respect for ourselves and others is the foundation of a positive school culture, and together, we can make a difference that will last far beyond this special week.
Let’s continue to show respect in everything we do—both inside and outside of the classroom. Together, we are RAM STRONG!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Lauren Roberts
School Counselor

Caroline L. Reutter School Hosts Inspiring Assembly with Motivational Speaker Chris Hollyfield
On September 27, the Caroline L. Reutter School proudly hosted a school-wide assembly featuring renowned motivational speaker, actor, and business owner, Chris Hollyfield. The event was aimed at inspiring students to embrace respect for one another, regardless of individual differences, as part of a broader initiative to foster a culture of kindness and inclusivity within the school community.
Chris Hollyfield, who has captivated audiences across various platforms including ESPN, 60 Minutes, Dateline NBC, and Primetime Live, shared his compelling personal story with students. Known for his portrayal as "Little Boogeyman" on WWE Smack Down, Hollyfield has turned his experiences as a little person into a powerful message about resilience, respect, and the importance of overcoming bullying.
“The world may see me as undersized, but I have a huge heart and a powerful message,” said Hollyfield during the assembly. His engaging presentation resonated deeply with students, encouraging them to recognize that differences should be celebrated rather than teased. By sharing his triumphs and challenges, he inspired students to stand against bullying and support one another.
This assembly also serves as an early kickoff for the Annual Week of Respect, which will take place during the week of October 7. The event was graciously sponsored by the Municipal Alliance, demonstrating a strong community partnership dedicated to promoting positive character development among students.
Caroline L. Reutter School has earned recognition as an ADL No Place for Hate School and a National School of Character, affirming its commitment to character development and anti-bullying initiatives.
Principal Ted Peters commented, “We are incredibly grateful to Chris Hollyfield for sharing his inspiring story with our students. His message reinforces our commitment to fostering a culture of respect and understanding, and we believe it will have a lasting impact on our school community.”
