Heritage Happenings
August 2024
August 23, 2024
Dear Heritage Families,
It has been a great first week! We wanted to take a moment to share a few highlights from our first few days school. It has been a pleasure to welcome your child(ren) back to Heritage Elementary. The energy and enthusiasm they brought to the classroom have been truly inspiring. Being able to witness our two schools uniting into one has been heart-warming. Our theme, One School - One Sound, is perfect as we start this new year.
We've been impressed by the positive attitudes and smiles on our students' faces. Our students have already settled into their routines and are eager to learn. It's evident that they're excited to be back with their friends and teachers.
As we move forward, we are looking forward to a wonderful year filled with growth, learning, and new experiences. We appreciate your continued support and involvement in your child's education.
Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
Warmest regards,
Your Admin Team

Opt Out Options
Dear Heritage Elementary Family,
Throughout the duration of the academic year, the Wentzville School District partners with community agencies that specialize in providing students, families, and educators with preventative education. Agency presenters are credentialed, coordinated through the District, and under the supervision of building administrators. Presentation topics are targeted toward specific grade levels. All students will participate in each program unless you choose to opt your child out of the lesson(s). If you are interested in opting your student(s) out of the presentation(s), please click the appropriate link(s) below.
If you have additional questions, please reach out directly to your student’s school counselor.
Thank you,
Dr. Kimberley Walters, Heritage Principal
Val Sutton, K-1 Assistant Principal
Katie Will, 2-3 Assistant Principal
Melrick Bogier, 4-5 Assistant Principal
Christy Stenberg, ESC
Jen Lee, K-1 Counselor
Zach Orlando, 2-3 Counselor
Dr. Anita Hampton, 4-5 Counselor
RSP - Reading Success Plan
This fall, teachers and reading interventionists will be conducting reading assessments with all students. These assessments help us plan lessons and identify students who might benefit from extra reading support. In addition, our building reading specialists will work with small groups of students. These flexible groupings are not the same as Reading Intervention, families will be contacted directly by their child's teacher if he/she qualifies for Reading Intervention.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to your child's classroom teacher.
Drop-Off and Pick-Up Procedures for Car Riders
One important topic of discussion and planning with the restructuring as one building was drop-off and pick-up procedures. Along with District Office staff and the WSD Transportation Department, we worked with the City of Wentzville and the Wentzville Police Department to determine the best plan of traffic flow for our families. Final decisions made were made with the ultimate focus on the safety of our students.
Morning Drop-Off:
- If you have a child in Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, or 3rd grade, you will drop your child off at the Blumhoff Ave. office. Formerly known as Heritage Primary Office, this will now be the Heritage Main Office.
- If you have a child in 4th or 5th grade, you will drop off at Academy Gym on Academy Drive.
- If you have more than one child in each of these grade levels, you will utilize the drop off point of the youngest child. For example: If you have a 1st grader and a 4th grader, you will drop off both students at the Main Office on Blumhoff Ave
Afternoon Pick-Up:
- All students who are car riders, will go to the Blumhoff Gym (previously known as the K-2 gym). There will only be one car rider line. Don't forget to fill out the car rider registration if you haven't already. You can find the link below in this newsletter.
- Walkers: Please avoid blocking the parking lot in the townhomes on Blumhoff when you park to pick up your walker. We encourage you to park on Northview instead.
- Please avoid lining up in the dead end street near apartments at the end of Carr Street. We want to be respectful and not block their driveway in getting in and out of their complex.
PK Students:
- If you have a Heritage Elementary student and a PK student attending Heritage Early Childhood, you will drop-off or pick-up the Heritage Elementary student first and then follow the car line to pick up your child at the Early Childhood Center.
We appreciate your patience, especially these first couple of weeks as we get our procedures in place and everyone gets into a routine.
