Come and join us as we open our new Star Spirit Lodge to parents and guardians as well as community members of both Morinville and Alexander to see. Come find out what this space is all about! Additional details on poster above.
Parent-Teacher Interviews
Parent Teacher Interviews take place on Wednesday October 23 and Thursday October 24 from 4:30-7:30PM.
Please keep in mind that you will only book ONE slot per teacher to allow for more families to see teachers. Interviews are kept to 10 minutes. We ask that you arrange a separate date with teachers if more time is needed. Please contact the school if you need assistance.
*Note: Mr. Bodnar will not be available for interviews on October 23 and October 24. If you need to see Mr. Bodnar please call Corinna Cormier at the school to make arrangements for an interview at a later date.
Also, interviews will take place in the classrooms instead of the gymnasium this round. Please note the room locations on the booking system. We will have maps available for you as well, if needed.
Awards Night Sponsors Needed
We are excited for our upcoming student awards ceremony on November 4th, celebrating the hard work and achievements of our students. To make this event special, we are seeking sponsors who can help us recognize and reward our outstanding achievers. If you're interested in supporting our students and promoting your business, please contact us for more information on sponsorship opportunities!
CITIZENSHIP
MCHS Enviro Club - Blenderz Garment Recyclers
Did you know the average person throws away 37 kilograms of textiles each year? But 95% of these textiles are clothes that could be reused or recycled. This is a global problem and textile waste has greatly increased due to the increase in clothing consumption and production.
The MCHS Enviro Club will be hosting a fun FREE workshop with Sarah from Blenderz Garment Recyclers where you get to learn how to make your own upcycled coiled basket using recycled textile materials.
Date: Thursday Oct 24
Time: 10:50am-11:50am
Location: Star Spirit Lodge room 113
*The Enviro Club will also be collecting dead batteries until October 21st, please bring them to Mr. Pietraszewski.
SAFE AND CARING SCHOOLS
GSACRD Voice
As we transition into the colder months with shorter days and less sunlight, many of us may feel a dip in our mental health. This season can be challenging, which makes fostering resilience in our children all the more important.
Resilient kids can bounce back from setbacks and learn valuable lessons along the way. This skill isn’t innate; it’s developed through practice. You can support your child's resilience by encouraging them to take on new challenges, which fosters competence and confidence.
Small steps really can make a world of a difference, like teaching healthy coping strategies—like mindfulness or journaling— which empower them to manage stress and emotions effectively. Additionally, allowing your child to make choices and take control of their decisions can instill a sense of agency and responsibility.
By nurturing these qualities, we can help our children navigate life's ups and downs with confidence—especially during these tougher months. Check this article from Big Life Journal to learn more about building resilience skills in your child.
Low Cost Counselling
Krista Hooper, Intern Therapist, will be available to see clients for a maximum of $75 (free counseling is also available if needed). She brings considerable experience in working with addictions, complex family situations, trauma/PTSD, ADHD, depression, grief/loss, and anxiety. With a specialization in sports performance, she will work with individual clients ages 8 and up under supervision.
Krista has a warm and empathetic presence and is well-acquainted with the community. She will be seeing clients as an Intern from October to April and can support individuals both in person and online. The office is located in the NABI building in Campbell Park, and free counseling is being offered to those affected by the Jasper wildfires.

Beautiful Bits Of The Bible
Psalm 33:8–10, NIV
Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the people of the world revere him. For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm. The Lord foils the plans of the nations; he thwarts the purposes of the peoples.
Outside In - Riding Shotgun With Jesus
29th Sunday Ordinary Time - Year B
Ever fight with your brother or sister about who gets to ride shotgun on a road trip? Well, that tradition has its roots way back in the bible when James and John called their shots at the right and left side of Jesus when he takes his throne. And just like with your sibs, a fight breaks out.
