Volunteer Service and Community Award Nominees Needed
One of the prime elements that make Jerabek Elementary School and the community of Scripps Ranch so unique is its volunteers. Over the years many special people have volunteered countless hours of work in our community. They have helped improve our school and provide activities for our children and families.
Each year Jerabek Elementary School recognizes one of these outstanding people for the Jerabek Special Service Award and one for the Jerabek Community Service Award. We are asking you to nominate TWO individuals who have contributed many hours of their time by helping with school activities, community events and programs. Please read the criteria below.
Please complete this survey by Wednesday, May 1st.
The persons chosen to receive these awards will be honored at Jerabek’s School Volunteer Breakfast on Wednesday, May 15th , beginning at 7:45 a.m. More information to come soon.
Please note the early time. Supervision will be provided for children on the kindergarten playground. All children will need to be on the playground during that time. This is a function for the adults only.
Thank you for observing that!

Leader in Me: Habit 8
Our next Leader in Me focus is Habit 8: Find Your Voice, and Inspire Others to Find Theirs. Our next awards assembly on May 23rd we will recognize students who exhibit this habit of contribution.
People who have found their voice focus on expanding their circle of influence, being trustworthy, building trust, blending the voices of others, and creating a common vision. They align goals and systems and empower others.
Great achievers express their voice by developing their vision, discipline, passion, and conscience. They recognize, respect and create meaningful opportunities for others to express their voices.
Kid Language
I have found something that I am good at and really like doing. I am proud but do not boast. Instead, I use my expertise to help and inspire others.
Ways to Practice Find Your Voice
- Try something new like painting, horseback riding, or baseball. Then ask yourself: Did I enjoy myself? Was it easy or hard? Do I want to learn more?
- Go to the library or search the internet to find reading material on new things. What kinds of things spark your interest? What do you want to continue learning about?
- Plan some time to help someone in need. How did the experience make you feel?
