Weekly Memo
Some thoughts for the starting school year

Hi Everyone,
Happy First Day of Spring! Longer and warmer days are coming. We have spring sports beginning next week (pitchers, catchers, goalies) and all other sports starting the week after that. Our spring musical rehearsals are underway (Save the Date to see the Pink Ladies and the T-Birds singing and dancing on the YCA stage!). Plus, our spring band concert is tonight at 7:00!
You may notice some notifications from school personnel coming from a platform called "Reach my Teach". This is a tool York School Department has partnered with to help with streamlining our communication. You do not need to do anything different, just wanted to give you a heads up if you see the platform name!
Don't forget that Quarter 3 ends next Friday (and graduation is 78 days away). Please make sure your students are staying up to date on their work (especially when the weather turns nice) so that we can finish the year on a positive note. As always if you have any questions or need anything, please reach out to Liza or me.
Thanks,
Amanda
Congratulations!!
Congratulations to our Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) for their first ever first place finish at the Maine State Student Leadership Conference. Students competed in events such as impromptu speaking, graphic design, and sports management to win enough points to upset the long reigning champions from Oak Hill. The most outstanding presentations were the Business Plan by Levi Reid ('26), Mark Iordanov ('26), and Nick Beaulieu ('26) and the Visual Design presentation by Olivia Omensky ('26) and Rae Omensky ('26). Thank you to Señoa Bolaños, Señora Caraballo, and Ms. Luby for chaperoning the two day conference.
Congratulations to the Jazz Ensemble. They competed at the State Jazz Festival at Lake Region High School last weekend and earned the only gold medal in their division with a score of 95.6/100.
Nathaniel Plocinski ('27) won the prestigious "Dale Huff" Jazz Award (only one award given out per division). Nathaniel is the only student from York to ever have won this award.
Zander Grinnell ('28), Ethan Wilson ('27), and Reed Cleary ('29) won outstanding musicianship awards!
Nathaniel Plocinski, Olivia Omensky ('26), Declan McAfee ('27), and Zander Grinnell all received the highest rating of a "1" for their improvised solos.

REQUIRED FORMS (completed once per school year)
The Athletics Participant Form and the Emergency Information Form must be completed before participation will be allowed. Please communicate with your parents/guardians to ensure that forms are done and you have an up-to-date physical on file before practices start. Students cannot participate unless up-to-date forms are completed.
Please visit https://yorkathletics.rankonesport.com/New/NewInstructionsPage.aspx to access forms. There are three requirements for participation in YHS athletics programs:
- Athletics Participant Form
- Emergency Information
- Physical Examination
Physicals are active for 13 months from the date of the exam. Email updated paperwork to ecastaline@yorkschools.org, fax to 207-351-4001 (this is a YHS Athletics specific fax line; please encourage the provider's office to use), or drop off a hardcopy at the YHS front office.
Your eligibility status can be checked on the Rank One website or the RankOne app.
Please contact Emily if you have any general questions about the upcoming season at ecastaline@yorkschools.org.
