Hi my name is Kaylyn Davis!
I've been a school social worker in District 204 for the past 3 years, which has given me the opportunity to work with many students, families, and communities within our district. I grew up in Naperville and attended District 204 schools from elementary through high school. I am a proud 204 graduate who's excited to work as a social worker for my home district! In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and closest friends. I'm so excited to be joining Young Elementary this upcoming school year !
Meet Mr. DeCanio - Art
Hello, my name is Justin DeCanio. I am an artist and an art teacher. I have done a lot of cool things on my art side, like talking at the Art Institute and having a solo art show! I love drawing, playing video games, and exploring nature in my free time. I am looking forward to creating many amazing things with the students this coming year.
Meet Mr. Green
I graduated from North Central College in the spring with a bachelor's degree in choral music education. I loved singing in the choirs there. I also work for Road Show Inc., a non-profit organization that does show choirs, summer camps, and musicals for kids of all ages. I love to play piano, golf, go to baseball games, and spend time with my cat and dogs!

Hi everyone! My name is Emily Heggeland. I recently graduated from Valparaiso University, and I am thrilled to start my first year of teaching at NYE. I grew up in Naperville and attended school in D204, so it's a privilege to be back. Go Dolphins!

Hello, everyone! My name is Makayla Huff, and I'm excited to be joining NYE as a first-grade teacher. I recently graduated from Illinois State University with a degree in Elementary Education and have just moved to the area. Working with kids has always been my passion, and I'm thrilled to be part of this school community. Looking forward to an amazing school year... Go Dolphins!
Meet - Ms. Moyer
I’ve been a speech pathologist for 17 years in the elementary schools. I graduated from Illinois State with my Bachelor’s and Master’s degree. My husband and I live in Yorkville with my son, daughter, two step-sons, a dog, and two cats. I’m a cubs fan who enjoys swimming, reading, boating, and watching my kids play sports. I am so excited to start my new journey with district 204!

2nd Reminder - Thursday, August 12th - How to Find Your Child’s Teacher Assignment

2. Click on the category on the left called “Class Schedule” where you will be able to view your teacher assignment. See image below.

2nd Reminder - New Family Self-Guided Tour Night - Wednesday, August 14th from 5:30-6:30
During this time families who are new to Nancy Young are welcome to come into the building. This event is not intended for kindergarten families, however, if your child is apprehensive about the upcoming transition, you are welcome to bring them. Please know teachers will not be available to meet during this time, but members from the office staff will be present and ready to greet you with a smile.
2nd Reminder - Meet your Teacher - Monday, August 19th from 2:30-3:00
At 2:30PM on Monday, August 19th all students and loved ones will be welcomed into the school to see the positive changes throughout Nancy Young as well as drop off their school supplies. Please plan to enter the school in the front of the building by the main exit and leave through the recess doors as indicated on the map. Do not worry about navigating the building, we will have staff on hand to direct you and your child (ren) to their respective classrooms.
At 2:55PM we will ask everyone to exit the building. At that time, you will be invited to mingle with fellow community members and have a sweet treat provided by our amazing PTA on the blacktop.
2nd Reminder - Kindergarten FIRST recess - Tuesday, August 20th from 5:00-5:30
At NYE we embrace the future, but we continue to honor the past. Since I have been named principal, we have hosted a FIRST and LAST recess. What is this!?! All incoming kindergartens are welcome to join us on the playground starting at 5:00PM on Tuesday, August 20th. During this time, I will be present, and we will officially "sign" each child up to join our family. Be sure to bring your camera, because this is a photo opt you will NOT want to miss. After the photo opt all children will enjoy the playground equipment as the adventure begins!
A short 13 years later NYE graduates will be welcomed back for our LAST recess. Bring the Kleenex to both events. :-)
2nd Reminder - How to Find Your Child’s Bus Route Information in ParentVUE - Wednesday, August 21st
1. Log in to ParentVUE.
2. Click on “Student Info” on the left navigation menu.
3. Scroll all the way down to the bottom to find “Transportation Information”
*Students should be at the assigned bus stop at least 5 minutes prior to the scheduled pick-up time.

Lost and Found
Lost and found items will be gathered and kept on a table in the lunchroom. If your child misplaces something please encourgae them to look on the table. Prior to donatating items to a local charity, I will advise the community.

Due to both safety and staffing challenges no forgotten items will be accepted throughout the school day. Only items that are required per a child's IEP/504 or health plan will be accepted.
