Annual Library Report
Sherrard CUSD #200: 2021-2022
A Note to Begin
This year was all about transitions, transitioning from limited library time to full library time. Transitions from an older style of library at the high school to a more flexible model. Transitioning from delivering books to students on carts to having students back in a series of progressively more interactive ways. Transitioning from nearly fully digital in some cases to a much more balanced model. We had to throw out plans, and make new plans, but our goal of meeting students needs stayed the same.

Highlight Innovations and Updates from the Staff
- Winola - Mrs. Robbins used the Clevertouch to project stories so all students could see them, and the hearing impaired students could have the stories signed as well. We now have new screens to project in both Sherrard grade and Winola Elementary.
- Sherrard Elementary - Mrs. Willems provided services from carts and then transitioned to students in the library. She retired at the end of the school year.
- Matherville - Mrs. Bradshaw helped facilitate the video lessons that we used all year, and transitioned more students back into the library throughout the entire year. Ms. Bennin created lessons to use with 5th and 6th grade weekly.
- Junior/Senior High - Mrs. Justice and Ms. Bennin moved from cart delivery to full library usage through the year. We also had a major library renovation.
- All buildings - Ms. Bennin weeded sections in all of the libraries to make sure the collection is always working towards being current and useful for students and staff.
Circulation and Database Usage
Our circulation numbers are up this year, probably due to the shift from delivery services at the start of the school year to students returning in - person to the libraries. Our databases were used about the same as last year as well. I am planning on shifting to the Gale databases for the elementary buildings as well, I will keep Capstone Animals, but Capstone Science will end next March.
