FROM THE NURSE
NURTURING YOUNG MINDS: Essential Strategies for Emotional and Cognitive Growth
Target Audience: Parents/Caregivers of children age 0-5
During the first year of life, the human brain grows to 70% of its adult size, with the Center for the Developing Child at Harvard noting a million new connections per second. By age three, it reaches 80%, and by five, 90%. The quality of interactions with caregivers significantly influences brain development, impacting social, emotional, and intellectual wellbeing for life.
Raising Eagles will host two sessions focusing on five key principles: maximizing love, managing stress, exploring through movement and play, engaging through talking and singing, counting, and reading stories. The first session will cover maximizing love, managing stress, and exploring through play, while the second will address the remaining principles.
Join us to learn how being emotionally present enhances your child’s happiness, emotional health, and self-control while encouraging curiosity and healthy development.

Calling All D.O.G.S.!
Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads Of Great Students) is a program from the National Center for Fathering, whose purpose is to provide positive male role models for students by being present in education.
Watch D.O.G.S. are fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and other father-figures who volunteer for at least one day during the school year by being helping in the classroom, lunch, recess, specials, at arrival and dismissal, etc. If you were not able to make the kick-off event, a Skyward email was sent with all the necessary information regarding signing up to be a Watch D.O.G. If you have any questions, please reach out to Mrs. Oliver at Nicole.Oliver@allensid.org.
